Google translate says:

The then high average mileage has a considerable minimum deviation, full load the speed of landing is below 90 km/h.

The unit lands in a space of 210 meters and takes off in 165.

Currently a new device to completion: C. R. 22. But of this we reserve the right to talk to himself in a next issue.

What is the relation between CR.20 and CR.22?

Fiat CR.20.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_CR.20
"The Fiat CR.20 was an Italian biplane fighter used during the 1920s and 1930s. Designed by Celestino Rosatelli, it represented an intermediate step from the early biplane CR.1 and the later, successful series CR.30-CR.32-CR.42."

Both of these images were taken at the Italian air force museum at Lake Bracchiano. A larger image than that already provided of the C.29 and a CR.32 for interest's sake.

As I remember,that was from a Polish site,but it was a fighter-bomber.

According to Skybolt:

"G-54 number not assigned.

A word on the holes in the list. It seems that the original intention of Gabrielli was to assign to major projects number separated by five (i.e. G-50, G-55, etc) devoting the intermediate number to derivatives and major version (minor version were designated by suffixes). So G-51, G-52, and G-53 were assigned to version of the G-50 when the G-55 project was already underway. This explains the missing G-54: simply no more G-50 versions..."

Marco continued with: "Gabrielli said that G-54 wasn't used and nothing emerged from a deeep search in FIAT archives."

Recent FB posting on the page "I Cavalieri del Cielo la Regia Aeronautica" by Maurizio Mazza: "Original design for twin-fuse version of the FIAT G. 55 called FIAT G 58 It was just an idea."

Fiat CR.41.

Partial translation.
"Fiat CR.40/41
CR.40 is one of the proposed design which offered in paralleled with CR.32..
CR.40’s base was CR.30 same as CR.32, and design concept were as follows to reduce weight and drag.,
(1) Install air cooler engine and had small fuselage.
(2) Connected biplane directly to the fuselage.
CR.40 prototype which had a Bristol Mercury IV engine (MM.202) was completed in 1934.
Nevertheless CR.40 had good climbing performance, total performance was inferior compared with CR.32, failed to adopt.
Although Italian air force decided to continue CR.40 research and ordered CR.40bis prototype(MM275) which had a domestically produced Fiat A59R engine in 1935. But CR.40bis,suffered unsolved engine trouble and maximum speed was only 350km/h, rejected again..
Also the study of performance improvement plan for the CR.32 was ordered to Fiat in 1935.
Fiat decided to develop following plan.
(1) Improved engine power CR.32 called CR.33.
(2) Light weight CR.32 called CR.32 quarter.
(3) Improved engine power CR.40 called CR.41.
CR.41 had a Gnome et Rhône 14Kfs 900hp engine and increased area vertical tail stabilizer/rudder.
CR.41 No.1 prototype (MM207) was quickly completed and rolled out in 1935. Also No.2 prototype(MM208) with trouble disappeared But Italian air force decided to develop mono plane, CR.41 inspection was stopped."
1724500140833.png Something isn't right.

Something isn't right.

It only looks that way ... A.58C was Fiat Aviazione's designation for the French Gnome-Rhône 14Kfs engine.

What isn't right is the quoted power. Some GR-built Mistral Major variants may have put out 900 hp but the 14Kfs didn't. The output quoted for the Fiat A.58C was 740 CV (so, about 730 hp).

In The Complete Book of Fighters by William Green and Gordon Swanborough, Salamander Books 1994,
CR.40 engines:
- 1st prototype 550 hp Alfa Romeo built Bristol Mercury IV
- 2nd prototype (CR.40bis) 690 hp Fiat A 59 R (licence-built Pratt & Whitney Hornet)
CR.41 engine:
- 730 hp Gnome-Rhone 14Kfs Mistral Major

In Italian Civil and Military Aircraft 1930-1945 by Jonathan Thompson, Aero Publishers 1963,
CR.40 engines:
- 1st prototype 550 hp Bristol Mercury IV
- 2nd prototype (CR.40bis) 700 hp FIAT A.59R
CR.41 engine:
- 900 hp Gnôme-Rhône 14Kfs

In The FIAT Fighters 1930-1945 by Piero Vergnano, Intyrama 1968,
CR.40 engines:
- 1st prototype 518 hp / 525 cv Alfa Romeo Mercury IV (licensed Bristol)
- 2nd prototype (CR.40bis) 690 hp / 700 cv FIAT A 59 R (licensed Pratt & Whitney Hornet SDG)
CR.41 engine:
- 729 hp / 740 cv FIAT A 58 C (Gnome-Rhone 14 Kfs Mistral Major)

The 900 hp for the G-R 14 Kfs only appears in Thompson's book.

Looking forward to this book:
