Postwar Beriev flying boat and amphibian projects

On the Bartini T-20A, it seems to me engine water ingestion would have been a big problem.
I wonder how Bartini was going to remedy?

According to the site Alternativnaya Istoriya, the following is a 1947-1949 design by Beriev for an apparently undesignated flying club cadet trainer entered in a competition against Chetverikov, Grokhovski, MAI and SAI designs.

Is this a genuine Beriev proposal or does the site's name indicate yet another "what-if" type source?

Thanks to any specialists who can shed some light on the question!

The article was published in Krylia Rodiny No.11/2003, the author is no one else than ucon (Konstantin Udalov).

Another mention: http://www.avicopress.ru/index.php/aviation/russian/138-2010-10-10-07-08-10.

Not SAI, KAI (Kazan' Aviation Institute). SAI is Italian ;) .

P.S. Probably it should be Gribovsky, rather than Grokhovsky - the latter man died a year before.

Thanks a lot redstar72!

Once again you refer to a magazine I do have... The problem is I don't have an index to all the magazines I have, and that would be a very useful thing... especially for Russian magazines, as my Russian is very basic and it takes me a while to find something in the contents table!

Do you know of index files for Russian magazines that would recapitulate contents by manufacturers or themes? (like Excel charts for instance). I have many issues of the following, either in paper or digital formats, and would appreciate a way to search through them easily!
  • Авиамастер (Aviamaster)
  • АвиаПарк (AviaPark)
  • Авиация (Aviatsiya)
  • Авиация и Время (Aviatsiya i Vremya)
  • Авиация и космонавтика (Aviatsiya i Kosmonavtika)
  • АэроПлан (Aeroplan)
  • Аэрохобби (Aerohobby)
  • Взлёт (Velyet)
  • Гражданская Авиация (Grazhdanskaya Aviatsiya)
  • Мировая авиация (Mirovaya Aviatsiya)
  • История авиации (Istoria Aviatsii)
  • Крылья Родины (Krylia Rodiny)
  • Мир Авиации (Mir Aviatsii)
  • М-Хобби (M-Hobby)
  • Полигон (Polygon)
Thanks a lot for any help you can provide!

That is a very good question gentlemen. I am also a maniac of Russian books and magazines, and I use to get lost when trying to find something. There are no indexes of those publications. It is a heavy job, but it worths.

Hi,

here is some Beriev projects;

Be-24 amphibian passenger aircraft

Thanks hesham, though most of this is old news and already listed elsewhere I think.
  • The R-2 was an unbuilt version of the 1952 R-1 twin-jet maritime reconnaissance bomber flying boat which was to use the new VK-5 engines.
  • "TBD BK-2" is not only totally wrong as a type designation, but it actually should read "TVD VK-2" as your picture represents the unbuilt Printsessa, a very large 1947-49 passenger/patrol flying boat project powered by six TVD VK-2 turboprop engines.
  • The Be-24 was a 1963 amphibian passenger transport plane project.

I have done my best to sort out the mess that hesham has made of the Beriev topics (putting amphibians in new topics when we already had dedicated topics, placing pre-1945 projects in the postwar section). Things seem to be okay now, but of course the number of downloads for each pic moved starts back at zero (don't think it matters much).

We now have FOUR Beriev topics on this forum and I would appreciate that things be posted where they ought to:
  • Early Beriev projects (pre-1946 unbuilt seaplanes and landplanes)
  • Postwar Beriev amphibians and seaplane projects
  • Postwar Beriev landplane projects
  • Beriev designation systems
Thanks in advance to you all!

OK Stargazer,

I will correct it,but it's not my fault, the Google translation is so bad.

But I HAVE corrected it, hesham! Moved the seaplane An-30 to this here topic; moved the KOR-2 and MDR-10 to the Early projects topic. Also moved my comments.

Hi,

Beriev Be.10 (first allocated) was amphibian version of Be.6,with retractable landing
gear,project of 1948.

The AN-30 does look kind of like the Convair Tradewind. I suppose with Kuznetsov engines it would work better than the T-40 engined US plane.

Hi,

here is a Beriev TVD-VK-2 six engined patrol flying boat project.

It's the Printsessa (Princess) of 1947-49, and we already have a topic on this one:
http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,17941.0

Also, I remember clearly that someone told you elsewhere on the forum that "TVD-VK-2" was only the designation for the engines...

Sorry for this double post my dear Skyblazer,

I search for "TVD-VK-2",and found it only here.

Hi! SD IDB supersonic long-range maritime reconnaissance sea plane bomber.

This seaplane looks like "Leningrad Air Force Academy GSB-GS-1 strategic flying-boat bomber(8 to 10 engines!!)."

From what I've read, after many test flights and modifications of R-1, Beriev started working on the updated aircraft R-2 that had a different nose (among other updates) but only a mock-up of it was built.

No,there was no relationship to R-2,the early drawing to R-1 had a shorter nose.

In my files,

the Beriev A-200 was an amphibian, later redesigned as Be.200.

In my files,

the Beriev A-25 was a single engined four-seat light multi-purpose amphibian
Project of 1995,any drawing ?.

the Beriev AI-30.

It is called "Military transport and anti-submarine amphibian aircraft with four [Ivchenko] AI-30 engines". The aircraft itself didn't obtain any index.

Similar thing: "amphibian aircraft with M-12 engine".

And the same thing with "patrol flying boat with six [Klimov] VK-2 turboprops". All these projects didn't have indexes of their own.
