    Russia sticks with the MIG-1.44?

Pretty simple, what if the Russians don't flip flop around with their 5th gen program and decide to keep developing the Mig 1.44? Would they have a 5th gen(ish) aircraft earlier? what would it's export potential be? how effective would it be? my 2 cents are It would be operational earlier that...

    Space Station (R)alpha

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and I want to ask if my fellow members would be willing to post any documents, diagrams, concept art, etc. they may possess describing proposed configurations of the ISS when it was called "Space Station Alpha" back in 1993-4. I am seeking material depicting...

The extended family of the Mil Mi-8

Here is a list of all known M-8 family designations from Catalogue of aeronautical products and systems (it has been translated, reorganized and reordered according to the sequence of the Western alphabet). Sukhoi S- Designations

Interesting. A little technical correction here: this was S-80 — not Su- for Sukhoi but S- for Simonov. Sukhoi model numbers are not allocated to all the designs, only those that get to the production stage.

    Mikoyan MiG-31 FOXHOUND

Last month's DTI carried a blurb on the Mig-31 BM . the last line talked about the Mig-31 BM's ability to counter stealth cruise missiles and Hypersonics. In this context I propose to start a discussion as to how the Mig-31 BM may indeed accomplish the same.

    Russian and Soviet Aircraft Carriers

The Soviets had a number of stilborn aircraft carrier projects from the 1930's all the way through to the 1990's. One of the most studied was Project-72 dating back to WW-II (1943) I think. Other projects include Project-69A, Project-85 and Project 1123 (Moskova concepts) before getting to the...

    Sukhoi S-54/S-55/S-56 Design Progression

The first S-54 configuration apparently featured an afterburning R-195 turbojet and a ventral intake. In the second phase, a shift was made to side intake, and the wing area increased. Additionally, the cutaway profile seems to depict a R-195 without an afterburner? The cutaway is to scale...
