The 1961 Dassault Super Caravelle
This was an interesting proposal, a medium range SST. One version incorporated a simple, light-weight variable geometry wing. This wing had outer sections folding down during supersonic flight, and gave improved stability.
Worthy of note, the research into this design was conducted using an IBM 650 digital computer, at a time when the rest of us were using slide rules.
Engines were to be 4 x RR RB169/2, 70 to 88 pax, Mach 2.2
Pics and illustrations copyright Dassault Aviation.
The beautiful model of course back then, hand built, probably from wood and painted.
