Hi all,

you know Yvan Makhonine? This french inventor build the Mak.10 (1931) and the Mak.123 (1947) with variable wing geometry. Anybody knows other projects of this man? I need also a short history, but not in french...

Around 2000 le Fana de l'aviation had an article on this guy with pics and projects.
I'll seek in m collection next week end.
You can buy old editions of le Fana from the editions Larivière

There are two, or three projects, probably better called "concepts" which are said to be
made by Makhonine, I'm looking for more information for quite a long time. Both are probably
post-war stuff, nevertheless I'll show them here : VTOL designs with stowable, but not foldable
rotors. The picture, showing two designs (via vstol.org), should be regarded just as a schematic
drawing only, I think. The other one (source unknown) looks a little bit more realistic, but maybe
it's just a visualisation of the concept, too.
BTW, Yvan Makhonine was born in Russia .

Several pictures, last two from V.NEMECHEK v.2 "The Military aviation. Between two wars"
The Project of the fighter of the french company Gourdou-Lesseure G.11 C1 was executed on patent Mahonin's and should be able to develop the velocity 680 km/h, reach the heights 7000м. for 6 minutes...
In soviet unions like work to effect G.BAKSHAEV
RK-M-11/LIG-7 , RK-I/RK-800 , as well as project of the twin-engined fighter with pull and pushing propellers RK-I-2.
Karsten , regrettably more on Makhonin to add can not

In my database: issue #365 monography of the Makhonine GV

Here's the MaK 123, although it, too, wasn't ready before the end of WW II:

Russian-born Frenchman Yvan Makhonine developed this unique prototype with telescopic wing panels in the post-war years.
This item from FLYING, February 1950 is pretty basic... I'm sure other forum members can add info and pics!

I've merged those topics in the Early Projects section, as maybe with the exception of those stowable-rotor projects,
they belong to the pre-WW II/WW II era.

Are you quite sure about the MAK 123?

Not absolutely, the only date confirmed by several sources, is the first flight in 1947,
so construction should have begun a lot earlier.
But we can split the MAK-123 and the stowable-rotor projects into a post-war Makhonine thread.

Plus the well known Mak.101,and from Le FANA No 365;

Mak.110 C1 was a heavy fighter monoplane project to 1934 competition, and it had
a many shapes.

Mak.120 was twin engined ten-seat light transport project, with 3000 km range
and estimated speed of 440 km/h.

Not only a project, but maybe you would like to know what happened to Mak.123.
I also add an internal view of Mak.101 from L'Aérophile magazine.
