Hello dear tank friends :) Here I show an unknown tank concept that dates back to the 70s!
There are no details available, just the contour! Its in 1:10 scale

Greetings from Frielendorf Germany
Solid wooden models like this are a German speciality. I bought one for the Gepard AA tank at a toy fair in Cologne back in 2003. More detailed ones have featured in books about the Leopard family and the Kpz70.
The model is very Leopard 2 with its turret shape but the Swiss looked at a tank with its turret located at the rear. I will see if there is a thread here anywhere.

I suspect this might be one of a series of studies carried out between 1976 and 1978 looking at different turrets/configurations.

Such design also appeared in Wegmann's patent DE4123771C2
A 2-man DIT(driver in turret)design, the driver located in the center of turret ring, another crew member on the left and main gun on the right.

Every time it fired that gun, the turret and hull would try to rotate clockwise.
The solution - for an accurate second shot - is traversing the turret "right 20 an left 10 degrees" to ensure that all the gear back-lash is cancelled.

Every time it fired that gun, the turret and hull would try to rotate clockwise.

That's what I was thinking . . .
But . . . would it be possible to engineer some method of locking the turret to the hull, just prior to firing, to prevent this movement ?

cheers,
Robin.
