I avow that the long history of, um, bad luck which British-made battlecruisers suffered is noteworthy. And I avow that when there is a problem, to disregard every instance of that problem and then claim there is no problem is not analysis.

This only makes sense if the sinkings all have similar causes, and this cause is a unique feature of British Battlecruisers, and also the circumstances are unique to British Battlecruisers. Given there's several theories for Hood's sinking (I'm partial to the bow wave trough) which is wholly separate in mechanism to the Jutland losses (generally understood to be from improper cordite storage) and also doesn't explain the quite solid performance of Lion, Tiger and Princess Royal's armor/damage control (especially Tiger) at Jutland.

This thread is to discuss the Hood reconstruction. Given Hood's refit was not scheduled to commence until spring 1942 it's rather pointless to speculate on its possible effects on an event which took place a year earlier.
