After the design of the first Kashin class ASW Guided Missile Destroyer, the Soviet Navy started to design a similar but larger vessel in the cruise size but with the same purpose. Design work completed in 1958 to for a cruiser sized vessel, which have standard 5,900 tons , 6,650 tons of normal , full 7,400 tons of displacement, speed of 40knots and the Project 58, the Kynda class cruiser hull as a base with a purpose to hunt the modern US Nuclear Submarines. Design work stopped in 1959-60 when the navy decided to mass produce the Kashins instead of this design.

There must be some element of fiction to this -- SS-N-16 was only available in the 1980s, and contrary to the large launcher shown here was intended for launch from torpedo tubes.

The ship performance is also unlikely; the similar-sized Krestas needed 100,000 shp to achieve only 35 knots.

They are to have equipped with Steam Turbines despite the kashins had Gas Turbines.
As for the missile launcher, it is hard to decipt which GRAU designation equvivalent to which NATO designation!

It states an interesting ASW weapon which I never found elsewhere the RBU-24000, so that sextuple rocket launcher should be it, but on the site it designated 82-R with the codename Vikhr or Whirlwind

The ship and the drawing is descriped in the A.N. Sokolov's book of various soviet naval never-wheres. In that book there is Sokolov's own drawing which is AFAIK just his own impression of what that project would had looked alike. This image is from the Atrinaflot site which at some point did work together with Sokolov to incorporate some of the soviet never-where warship projects from that same book in the Atrinaflot site and someone (I assume its the site's holders) drew a slightly more accurate and detailed illustrations of the concept.

However I don't know how far did the soviets actually pursue this design, was it just conceptual studies or did they actually make detailed designplans for it?
