Let's look at the Convair XFY Pogo for the insanity of this aircraft. In vertical flight even the most experienced pilots would have had extreme difficulty landing a Triebflug successfully. Directional control in flight would have been iffy at best. The major flight surfaces were the rotating ones. As with other wingtip ramjet aircraft tried, the Triebflug would have been a failure.
