FASE - doesn't mention anything "long"; future MICA/AMRAAM replacement?
Comete - off-the-shelf 530D out of Mica-NG, to have a competent high altitude LRAAM?
Meteor MLU - Mica-NG derived 6" seeker?
Stratus - big HARM, with seeker universal enough to consistently engage large aerial targets? (I wonder if with modern seekers, you get it pretty much out of the box)

FASE really seems to be a franco-british successor to Meteor
https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/uk-axes-meteor-upgrade-in-favour-of-new-fase-missile/
FASE is intended to deliver next-generation air-to-air effectors able to engage a broad range of targets from multiple platforms, including future crewed and uncrewed aircraft. Pollard told Parliament in September last year that the programme was in its pre-concept phase, with work under way to establish a concept phase. The decision also follows the memorandum of understanding signed by the UK and France on 1 April to conduct a 12-month joint study into a Meteor successor, a deliverable of the Lancaster House 2.0 treaty that will assess the future threat environment, identify candidate technologies and set a development roadmap, overseen by a new joint Complex Weapons Portfolio Office.
Comète is just a stop-gap solution build using bricks of MICA NG and possibly Aster

I get the impression the UK is focusing on a new short-medium range missile and a long--ultra long range Meteor successor that would be carried in the large internal bay of GCAP (allowing possibly longer than 4m). As well as drone wingmen ranging ahead of the manned fighter carrying the shorter range missile.

From a cost perspective Britain and France have probably said do we need a MLU to cover a 3-8 year future window before new missiles arrive or is the current missile still dominating and likely to dominate in the mid term.

Knowing the history of the UK missile procurement, yes they do need that MLU because it's going to be more like 18 years before the new missiles finally arrive.

Eighteen years for new missiles to arrive? That is along time to procure new missiles especially for the GCAP/Tempest Scott Kenny.

Because the new government is going to suspend funding pending a new DIP, Cancel the missile in that DIP, get burned by everyone else involved, write a new DIP and restart it but the old team has gone on to other projects in the meantime...

Or bring out yet another RAF Air Staff Target Scott Kenny and develop the new missile in total secrecy that will stop the government interfering in matters that it does not understand. If the US can do it with it's SAP then so can we.

The trick with those is budget. Because Treasury will scream bloody murder over cash flows they cannot control.

That is why I suggested a system similar to the Special Access Program or otherwise the Black Budget which would be run by the military and only the military that would keep the Treasury away from things like military programs.

1) not sure that's legal in the UK, and
2) it only lasts until major cuts need to happen and now there's a general revealing that 2/3rds of the budget assigned to him is actually for a classified thing he has no control over at all, at which point Treasury loses its mind. Again.

We should have done a similar thing to SAP and the Black Budget years ago and that would have helped the current situation no end.
The only way that works is when you have men in the SAPs/Black Budget honest enough to give unspent money back to the goverment if they didn't spend it all.

Those are really hard to find.

I suspect they might be looking at a dart with lateral thrusters alongside aerial control surfaces and then pairing it with various sizes of booster.

air to air aster ?
I was thinking more a dart the size of FLAME, small and relatively light that multiple could be carried internally on UCAV type that gets close in to aerial threats but various scales of booster could loft from various distances from manned aircraft.
This would then follow the ASRAAM path to a CAMM style mini-Aster solution as a SAM as well. Not directly competing with PAAMS or Aegis's next generation common interceptor. But more complimentary and of large scale production of a common dart.
