I suppose you refer to Eberhard Rossler, Geschichte des deutschen U-bootbaus but which of the 2 bands and do you know the pages?

From pg 207 of the 2001 English Edition... but not 8000 tons. Looks very similar

Thx, I find it in the German edition band 2 page 316, but can you make a photo of the whole small text, I want to compare it with the original German text where it differs. For instance dealing with the two towing containers the English txt claims in the early part of 1943 while the German original text says spring 1943

Which variant? There were indeed developments of the Type XXI design for cargo transport, but I don't see any connection to these designs.

I looking for it in my books references : there are projects of Type XV and Type XVI of respectively of 2500 tonn and 5000 tonn (year of projects 1940 - 1941) before Type XX transport.
