Thanks for the photos. The Cyclone had to be renamed the Sylphe after Curtiss-Wright requested a change to avoid confusion with their own Cyclone engines.Pre-Magister products Fouga CM 88 Gemini and CM8-R13 Cyclone (Sylphe)

This is a funny interpretation, but I don't think it's the right one.Makalu is not the turbojet, its the aircraft itself. MA-kalu = MA-gister (I suppose)
I don't want to offense anybody. I just took the opportunity to expose an anecdote somewhat forgotten since that time.No offense, the post date back from 2008 and I have no clue why I wrote that, nor the meaning of it.
Thanks for sharing this rare variant, Philippe.Fouga equipped his aircraft with the largest engines available, the Gabizo, to climb to high altitudes
CM.173 Super-Magister?Hi all.
Here is a Magister at the 1953 Paris Air Show with larger intakes on the wing, but nothing like the Makalu. Does anyone know what this is about and which airframe this is?

This is No 03 at the same event, but it looks standard.

Cheers, Peter
I don't think so, the CM.173 only flew in 1964, and did not have that intakes.
Thank you dear Hesham. Does it say in the text which prototype/airframe/construction number/test registration? From a book about Magister,it was CM.170.

I see that the caption says 'même appareil' (same aircraft), so there should be a bit more information.
