Under the Red Star

Wow... How did I missed that thread ? Beautiful artwork (btw, how do say "flying dorito" in russian ?"

How stealthy would this aircraft be?

I don't think, that "stealth" was a question during designing this plane. So probably it is no less stealthy then other planes from this period. As in Ho229 stealth case: if something looks stealthy doesn't mean it is.

Another one from my workshop. Unnamed Alekseev project. Not clear if it had to be fighter or attack plane - maybe multipurpose. Model was reconstructed based on three photographs of small model of this plane. Undercarriage is total suppositious but analogical to one used in other Alekseev designs. There is not clear what kind of engines had to be used on plane. In my opinion and due to unique shape of nacelles it could be ram jet rather then "normal" turbojet.

VRD means "Vozdooshno-Reaktivnyy Dvigatiel" (Air Reaction Engine), so does not implies ramjet exactly, but jet engine in general. And what is more important, 2-VRD is mine "name" i used for signed this plane :) In sources is only described as combat aircraft with two unspecified jet engines.

Again excellent job, Marek. Do you render it in Blender?

Thanks Josef :) Modeled in Blender but rendered in Modo. I used Cycles from Blender for some renders previous, but back to Modo. About 10 times faster with similar effect. Cycles works great with GPU, but with CPU is terrible slow if you want unnoisy result.

This time something you can call "joint-venture" between Germany and USSR :) From OKB-1 and ing. Baade team EF-137. It is my second model of this plane. First one was made many, many years ago and it was probably very first reconstruction of this plane based on sketch from Baade's sketchbook. It was made in Rhino and I tried to adapt this model for soft I actualy use, but in final I modeled it from the beginning.

Totally brilliant. What software do you use? Just curious.

I did what I should have done in the first instance, I checked the website he has linked.

Marek,
is it your work? (Same style)

Attack plane designed by Mozharovskiy and Venevidov, but as part of Arkhangelskiy team in Factory No.32 in Moscow, from 1940/41. Here is with one of possible armament set: two fitted ShKAS machine guns and two ShVAK guns. Guns were mounted on special handle, that can be swinged down 30 deg.

Designation of the airplane project was MoV-2 ( BSh-MV ). It's engine was to be a Mikulin AM-38, 250 kg bomb load was projected, maximum 500 kg, maximum speed 485 km/h by the ground.
Together with Il-6, Su-6, MiG-4 ( PBSh-1 ) and Kotsherigin OBSh the MoV-2 was a rival of the Il-2 to series production.

Dear mrys,
Beautiful graphics!
That proposed Bartini jet flying boat proves that communists did not beat Bartini's sense of Italian style out of him until circa 1960. Bartini was jailed because he made airplanes that were too pretty.

Dear myrs,
Those ailerons look like Baade understood trans-sonic control problems better than most Western designers.

That Baade EF-137 looks like an early attempt at area-ruling by displacing major components forward or aft of the wings.
Its deep cockpit especially reminds us of Honda Jet.

Well... Pe-2, MiG-21F, Tu-22 look pretty cool to me. Probably more out there.

IMO Bartini had a gift to design very elegant planes. But he was not only about. Soviet/Russian airplanes usually have very good visual style. And Mig-29 and Su-27 are still unbeaten among modern planes in "look beautiful" competition :)

I'am back :)
In other topic I mentioned about series of Bartini's jet flying boats from early fifties. Here is sample of one of them:

is it possible find/get 3D view (or views from other angles) of this aircraft? Lovely seaplane!! (perfect for making a RC model of it... ) Preferable on wing look from top

Secret is not loosing time for sleeping, eating and facebook ;)

Next one before break for other work. Known BiCH-26 (Che-26) jet fighter from 1948. Still its shape looks modern.

- if do a research on modern stealth planes, we normally find the exhaustports from jetengine "hidden" from underside, to reduce the heat "termal picture" of the planes... here it will show up as any early jet. eg.

Bizarre project of flying boat/helicopter with two jet engines (rotors were to be moved via shaft from jet engines turbine) from about 1967. Reconstruction was based on Bartini's sketch and consulted by specialist from SIBNIA and Kamov KB, who worked with Bartini on this one.

Unfortunately at this moment - no. As I know we are the only who have acces to oryginal Bartini's sketchbook so this project was never published in any form before. But at this moment we want to keep more details for our book. Sorry.

- understandable you want keep for the book, please announce when book is ready to buy! :). I loved the design on that jetfighter seaplane , that started building a rc version out from that picture anyway, even if not perhaps its confirm to the sketches.

Very nice helicopter design. Bartini seems be far into future on aerotechnology, more than most designers. (at least much quite unknown much for me) Such idea as here, its seen only last years became more a realitiy.

This one is fabulous. I don't suppose there's a three-view to go with it or a different angle that makes the inlets easier to see?

Hi Mrys. Long time :)
Long time I had not visited your website too. It's mind blowing.
Still Blender lover ?

How do you say "Saab J-21" in Russian ? :p :p :p

OMG what an excellent work!. Congratulations!
I just dream about the possibility to enjoy this book in English

Hi Galgot!
My website was hacked some time ago and I'am on artstation actually :) And yes - Still Blender :D
Not familiar with artstation, clicked on your sign. Took me there.
Beautiful stuff on the whole page.

Had to open and prepare an old Maya project for a client a week ago,
What a bummer.
I came to love Blender too, and hate Maya, can you believe ? :D

Best to you.
