About Ha-117 engines on Welligton or He-111 f series " what if" .....
I suppose the problems was also about Ha-117 similars to Homare for for low-temperature treatment compared with american engines !

Well, i haven't understood what the meaning of "teething troubles" mentioned on article on devhub , probably Ha-117 engines had needed to be improved !

Indeed, but from what I've found, the Ki-58 was just an escort fighter version of the Ki-49.

The problem of long range escort is said to have been solved by the Ki-43, offering enough range. So, at least,
the Japanese Army Airforce hadn't to make the same experience, as the USAF with the B-40/41 !
