The switch from Nova to Saturn V was because in part the weight saving attributed to UK Heatshield material and the Fuel cell Imperial college. UK bluff re-entry capsules proposals middle fifties.

NOTE. The launch pads were already in place at Woomera 1959/60 for a similar size vehicle,
from memory of RR/lecture document about 550,000lb AUW 35,000lb payoad, three stage SLV 27,500lb empty. (LH/LOX upper stages.) Factory built in Essex latter half of fifties.

Could it be at all possible that the 4th from left may be it?

There was actually an OR - 9001.

In the PRO, you will find a very long study for the vehicle in question carried out by the RAE. Like most RAE studies, it was completely divorced from reality. Here's a pic:

There is a brief outline of OR.9001 and OR.9002 (counter satellite system) in BSP.4. As CNH says, the RAE were somewhat divorced from reality. There was also a (possibly) more realistic OR.9003 for a recon sat/vehicle.

Excuse me my dears and my friends,

I can recognize what was this, they wrote on it a British idea, but did we speak
about it before ?.

How could we forget this classic British Manned Spacecraft? ;D

Hi TsrJoe,

I think my dear GTX is right, and may be it was just a fake or a hypothetical design.

Nope
Is a 5 stage design that inherited the A4 aerodynamic and Engine
first, second and fifth Stage are reusable.

My dear Michel,

that means it was real design ?.

A real design in the sense that British Interplanetary Society members who were engineers designed it to the best knowledge of the time period but without a hope in hell of ever getting funding for such!

Regards,
Barry

Apologies for the zombie resurrection, but this has really caught my imagination...unfortunately I can find nothing about it.

Does anyone have any information about this possible British Gemini programme?

Unfortunately no - unless looking for phrases including "Gemini", "MOL", "British" and/or "RAF" in each of those threads is wrong! I can't find what you referred to in your May 2012 post at all, nor does a Google search bring up anything.

It's an intriguing idea and would make for a cool model, in my opinion!

There was a concept where the "orbiter" had an external tank that was wing-shaped that was in the Military Secret Projects book as a single illustration and single paragraph, was that ever examined in more depth?

On astronautix there's a page detailing moon lander design from the 30s, and a V-2 based suborbital design from the 40s. Also the project with the 3 shuttle looking things has a video on hazegrayart, if anyone's interested
