That saucer is actually quite prescient. Just extend the bubble into a full-width cone and you have the classic 1960-70s era re-entry capsule prior to the Shuttle. The spherical-profile heat shield protecting the manned cabin is spot on, although spin stabilisation fortunately proved unnecessary.

I think @Archibald is looking for Dan Sharp's British Secret Projects 5: Britain's Space Shuttle. Try https://bookfinder.com , and keep trying. One copy on offer currently, from a US vendor, at 137 euros.
 
Looking back at the 1960s I still have the two colour books about Spaceflight and matching volumes on airliners, fighters, bombers and helicopters.
Opening them up is like remembering long lost afternoons before bedtime!
