First up: L-227-14, one of the designs leading to the F-104. Clearly not the direction Lockheed decided to take. (Note: on the original, the dimensions are illegible).
Second: CL-351-10 AKA F-104X, an F-104 with big inlets, a J-79 and the ability to get to Mach 3.2 at 69,000 feet.

I'm looking for more information on ideas of a passenger version of the C-5A. Was it the L-500? Or was the L-500 a civil cargo freighter?
The internal arrangement was shown in "Der Flieger" 1/1966.
In this Lockheed advertisment the AH-56 is shown with an additional outline, giving
a deeper fuselage and it is advertised to be the basis for a transport for up to 30
passengers or as a ASW helicopter.
Are there any other pictures, drawings or photos of mock-ups of these versions ?

One proposed Lockheed S-3 Viking variant that never really progressed was an airborne early warning/AWACS variant of the S-3 that would have replaced the E-2 Hawkeyes on carrier decks. Models have been built and there's been manufacturer's artwork, but I've never come across anything more than...
Hi friends.
I know, that:
Initial attempts to produce jet-powered fighters with the endurance of piston-engined aircraft (e. g. the Bell XP-83 and the Convair XP-81) were disappointing, and in early 1946, the USAAF informally requested proposals for a "penetration fighter" with a combat...

I noticed that Lockheed 70's project are all in the 1000 series
CL-1200 and 1600 are Lancer (F-104 derivatives)
CL-1400 is A-10 competitor
CL-2000 is the SST
I don't understand why they changed from their odinary system
(CL-595 for example)
PS have someone ever noticed that Lockheed and...

Hi, it's my first day at the forum. So I want to ask for a very ordinary subject. Besides the later winner of the AWACS competition, the Boeing EC-137D (early_awacs_2.jpg shows an early configuration with radome mounted on the tip of the tail), there was another competitor, a DC-8 development...

‘Strategic Weapons Launcher’ “SWL”
1n the late 1960’s and early 1970’s the US became very concerned about the growing accuracy of the Soviets new and future ICBM’s and SLBM’s.
This accuracy would threaten the Strategic Air Commands (SACs) fixed ICBM silo fields in a ‘first strike’.
The USAF...

American studies into a supersonic transport go back to the 1950s when various versions were proposed by Convair based on the B-58 Hustler. Things remained paper studies until John F. Kennedy moved plans ahead in July of 1961 with the formation of a presidential committee made up of members of...
