I would not think that China would buy the KA-52 to only copy it, more or less they would use it like what mokahete says and use it for the LHDs that makes more sense.
Agreed, China would buy 48 to actively use.

But with how they're growing the PLAN Marines (and everything else), they'd need more than 48 to support the Marines, even with only ~6 per LHA. The USMC has 190 AH-1Zs, for comparison. That's why I'm leaning towards being the support for a couple of Mountain Warfare brigades.

Also at the risk of making me unpopular again, but don't we want to at least wait to see if something is delivered at all, before, as so often, a pointless discussion about wild speculations goes on for pages?

Quite Deino, it will be interesting to see what happens in the Chinese Ka-52 saga to see where it ends up that is if they buy any at all.

@Deino I understand your rationale but disagree. Some us come here to speculate and discourse on aviation subjects. It has provided me an opportunity to learn any number of things from my fellow aviation denizens.

Sure. I thought this was a relatively new thing, not dating clear back to 2021.

Exclusive footage of the Ka-52M crew's combat performance, which destroyed 25 enemy UAVs in two combat sorties.

Destroying 14 UAVs in the first sortie and landing another 11 in the second is certainly a world record, and the crew deserves state awards, despite the 30mm projectiles they received, equipped with remote-controlled fuses, which allow them to destroy aerial targets most effectively!

Judge for yourself how much the Ka-52M's firepower has increased in terms of aerial target destruction, but as long as we have guys like Captain E, the crew commander, and Senior Lieutenant K, the navigator/operator, we are INVINCIBLE!
...
The aviation world was thrilled by the news of the combat use of a 30mm projectile with a remotely controlled fuse!!!

Of course, this isn't "overkill" in the fight against enemy UAVs, and there aren't as many of these munitions as we'd like. But these projectiles have begun to be deployed on Ka-52Ms from air defense alert units, significantly increasing the helicopters' combat effectiveness against stealthy, low-flying aerial targets.

But be that as it may, the most important thing in the aviation industry is the people—the pilots and navigators, with pen and map, forge our Victory!!!

Yes, a little history lesson. Our forefathers actively used the FZ-23 GSh (a 23mm projectile for the GSh cannon with an anti-balloon projectile equipped with a highly sensitive fuse) in the fight against the MRSh.

Concludes the report.
Not APKWS, an airburst round. Interesting way to boost their air defense capabilities.

Why would China want the Ka-52 anyway? Since they already have the Z-20 in service and the upcoming Z-21. It certainly does not make any sense at all.

Cuz it's a serial model produced for like two decades + it's combat-proven in the conditions no any other attack helicopter faced in History? With a maritime version of it.

I had forgot about the maritime variant Scar, if that is the variant the PLAN are going after then I could certainly see them buying some to fly off the LHDs.

It's a rather unusual, extended range helicopter with light fighter level radar on it.

Even in Russia it is coupled with a more normal heavy. Z-21 is certainly something more normal.

Several considerations. Proven ability to operate in maritime conditions, no tail rotor issues, well proven folding mechanics, large weapon inventory, etc.
Most important: rock bottom pricing as Russian trade deficit with China is likely significant.

It may well be that the picture (if real) is straight of the production line with Chinese markings to be used for Chinese pilot cadre to begin development of a training program. It could be that the Chinese are still testing the aircraft before fully agreeing to the deal.

Image said to show Ka-52 in chinese colours. For now usual caveats apply.

IMO clearly fake like this one and besides being anyway IMO unlikely, the the serial number does not fit the PLA LH pattern.

This picture must be fake because this one has the exact same serial number!

In fact this is not an argument since we have seen „the same number“ on other aircraft before already. The main argument is, the PLA GF changed its numbering system and this 5-digit number is no longer valid.

I assume it is equally inaccurate for the PLANF?

Agree with you wholeheartedly. Still, OTOH, I think the point the OP was trying to make is that the Ka-52 would look sick as hell in a hypothetical PLA camo livery.

It is well known that Ka-52 has been used for some time in the counter UAS role. Most of these missions are conducted away from the main combat area. I suspect it was one of three possible circumstances; pilot error, mechanical failure, or as mentioned fuel starvation.
There is of course the option that the Ukraine has (like the Russians) started to fly UAS with air to air weapons on board.
I will also note that the tone of the article is also misleading that implies an increase in the numbers of aircraft lost over a short period of time. In fact both sides of the conflict have significantly reduced the losses through improved tactics and weapon technologies. As more of the traditional close attack mission is take over by UAS, the attack helicopters have taken on longer range missile and rocket attacks as well as the counter UAS mission.
