Hi overscan!

That M-52 is really an amazing aircraft! This is really a great find!

Chuck

Nice !
The most original is the main landing gear ;D, retractable in pods at mid span it seems... (apart of wheels below the removable load)

Funny looking, but do-able with some tweaking of the design. Boeing should have built that for moving 787 parts instead of that...well, something that WAS a 747 once... :-\

Nearly year after ( publication overscan) has found this subjects. Better late than never :). Here is than can is divided.

I've been searching everywhere, but can't find the dimensions anywhere. Anybody here who knows the wingspan and length of the various designs?

It's too bad this aircraft was never build. Would have looked beatiful. Elegant, but still heavy lift capable. Just don't paint it green.... ::) ::)

Dear Remko!

Thank you UCON, that's most helpful! The aircraft is much larger than I actually thought as well!

I have considered getting the book for my collection, but I can't read Russian. So unfortunately much of the book would be lost to me. If there will ever be an english version I'll surely get it!

According to BabelFish the caption for the air-launch version says that it could carry a launch vehicle and external fuel tank, with an overall mass of 400 tons, to a height of 8-10 km. It was able to put a 9 ton payload into a 200 km circular orbit.

That cargo pod on the M-52B almost looks like it was meant to be airdrop capable.

Probably just an idle question, but would our Russian members have any idea of what the potential domestic market, if any, might be for a revived M-52?

Topics merged.

Please keep in mind that this is "M-52" from the SECOND series (not to be confused with the first M-52, a variant of the "Bounder" heavy bomber).

How large are these, compared to say an An-225? Are there many runways wide enough to handle it? What about ground maneuvering at an airport?
