From my dear Jemiba,

the Matra R.100 was twin boom tandem two seat tactical reconnaissance
and close air support aircraft project, and it had a completely glaze cabin in
a central nacelle,powered by two or three Hispano-Suiza 24 Z radial engines,
and the Matra R.110 was developed from R.100 but fitted with two Rolls-
Royce Griffon piston engines.

There was superb 3D-rendering of these projects in "Le Fana de L'aviation" (can't remember when, but this was circa 2003, the article was intitled "Matra, des avions avant des missiles"). I have to check :)
They were very similar to the SO-8000 narval which was a complete failure (crappy piston engine... in 1950. Game over!)

MATRA Projects

Hi all,

I search for drawings of the french MATRA projects R.110 and R.120...
And a second question: Was the R.130 the last aircraft project by MATRA ???

Best regards Maveric

Hi,

Please also note the rockets R.101,R.104 and R.105

No. I'd say the Matra Moynet Jupiter was the last. But that, presumably, would take us to another sub-forum.

My dear Avion, there was anther two.

Re: MATRA Projects

According to Jean Cuny, "Les Avions De Combat Francais", Tome I,
it was a Hispano-Suiza 24Z with 2.400 hp.

Re: MATRA Projects

This design is hard to understand for me, especially engine cooling and supercharging. ;D
http://aerophile.over-blog.com/article-capra-matra-100-et-110-63334828.html

Auto translation

For R-110, Roger Robert also conceived a system of cooling radiators circular and went up around the airframe, has inside with two air-intakes on quoted by the airframe behind the post of crew.
These apparatus are left, before 1948, and the market is shortly afterwards cancelled.
If these apparatus are not developed, it led however STAÉ to admit that the system of envisaged weaponry is very promising. And the technical Service of Aeronautics decided to ask MATRA to study these rocket launchers to equip other planes, it is the beginning of vocation weaponry of MATRA.

I can understand SNCASE S.E.580 design.

Re: MATRA Projects

Funny , I did that one long time ago :

Also did it in French AF markings, but can't find it any more...

A pretty red aircraft indeed! If you find the French AF one, I'd love to see it... ;-)

Sorry, the one I did in French AF markings was the Capra R-40, this one was done in natural metal. Lucky I've found these again, lost a lot of archives…
Old old stuff from 2003, low poly Strata 3D model :)

Re: MATRA Projects

That's rather good B)

Re: MATRA Projects

Oh my goodness, heavenly Sir galgot!
We see outstanding work again.
I can see radiator cooling air intake, radiator cooling air outlet flap and engine exhaust nozzle.
So the cylindorical radiator is located just behind the cockpit.

Re: MATRA Projects

May I ask a question? What is this small device?
Range finder?

If it's wrong, I'm sorry. Are you an Indian Mr.galgot ?

Re: MATRA Projects

Well , happy you like this old stuff.
It seems from J.moulin scaleplan posted page 1 that these intake where used both for cooling (ring shaped radiator) and for a compressor (see Y shape on the upper view inside the fuselage).

Yes same J.Moulin plan describes this thing as a "télémètre de tir" (range finder) for the rear seated gunner, the pilot would have had a gunsight too.

And no problem, don't be sorry. not Indian at all, I'm only French :)

I'm terribly truly sorry. :'(

As a Frenchman myself, I guess it's not too bad. Some Indians can almost pass off for French too... ;) ;D

Re: MATRA Projects

Any way, I thank you very much for show me many rare information.
And I surprize very much that MATRA R.110 had unique design.
R.110 air intake size is very small compared with SNCASE S.E.580.
I imagine that large compressor had two function.
(1) Radiator cooling air suction(inverse ejector? Although I don't know such a equipment.)
(2) Engine intake air suction(the first stage super charger)

R.120. If this drawing is correct, tail boom is structurally very hard. P011 is good.

R110,120 and 130 were very unique.

(pictures from the R.130 post added here)

Yes , I'm no engineer but I believe it would have had serious cooling problems due to these small intakes.
here my answers on the images :

Thanks a lot galgot-san. Very interesting.
You have the aptitude more than a engineer. ;)

Hi,

the Matra R.120 was a turbojet powered version or based on R.100 & R.110.
