How can the thing take off and land vertically with a bendy fuselage and the undercarriage where it is in those pictures? I cannot see it being a starter even. Sorry.

The Navy canceled almost all of these 70's projects that were spawned or associated with Elmo Zumwalt's "cheap fleet" concepts. Most were unworkable pipe dreams of budget-cutters that wanted to retire big deck carriers.
