A 1963 report to Congress about the history of the NEPA and ANP programs mentions that Fairchild was given letter contracts to study nuclear-powered aircraft for the NEPA program beginning in 1946. Since the N-14, N-15, and N-17 virtually look like the B-52 and B-36 respectively, is it possible that Fairchild worked with Boeing and Convair to explore the idea of fitting the B-36 and forthcoming B-52 with a nuclear reactor?

A small report about it.
