Hi,

I think the two Republic F-84F for this competition,one of them was here;
http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4884.0/highlight,f-84f.html
the four engined version.
And the Lockheed was L-204 and anther Lockheed L design.

Hi,

also I think the Republic AP-54 and The Northrop N.65 were submitted to
this tender. And for the NA proposal,it was the F-93 and didn't advanced
version of it.

From Tony Buttler's "American Secret Projects: Fighters and Interceptors" page 54.
In January 1951, SAC requested a long range escort for its B-36. Considered to be an interim aircraft for the 1952/53 timescale. Covered by GOR 101 (and WS-105), most of the proposals made in May 1951 were versions of aircraft already flying:

Lockheed F-90 and 94
Republic F-84F and F-91. There was also a turboprop version of the F-84F (later developed as the F-84H)
North American F-93
Northrop F-89. Northrop offer was called F-89E
McDonnell F-88

The F-88 variant was selected and designated F-101A.

...The Voodoo brings back some really fond memories of my childhood, because the first model kit I ever built was the small-box Aurora version. Can't remember if it was 49c or 99c, but despite the fact I threw that kit together in about 20 minutes and still managed to get the wings on in the right direction(*). It was always second on the list of planes I wanted to fly, with the SR-71 being first.

(*) As noted previously on other forums dedicated to models, in the old days when Testors Red Tube model glue was still worth sniffing, by the time you got through the first half of the parts you were stoned enough to where you didn't give a frack whether the wings were FSW or not :p

Hi,

may be the XF-90 delta wing fighter proposal submitted to this competition.

The original tendered configuration of the XF-90 WAS a delta wing. The swept was designed later. The delta XF-90s go under the L-167 TDN but were for the original penetration fighter competition (that won by XF-88). Another TDN covering delta XF-90 derivatives is L-169, but those were pursuit not penetration fighters. The later SAC Fighter GOR (1952-1953), to which the F-101 was selected, saw Lockheed doing a number of studies (mostly computer variations of baseline configurations) under the TDN L-252 (enlarged F-104 with different wingplans). No hint if those were really submtted.

Main points of SAC Fighter GOR: fixed armament/electronic gear weight = 1955 pounds, combat radius = 1566 Nmi, maximum speed = M. 1.75 at 55,000 feet, combat ceiling = over 68,880 feet , maximum take off distance = 5880 feet .
Some of the resulting design were very large indeed.

L-252-1 proposal look like an oversized F-104 Starfighter to me. Also, is it just me, or does the L-252-6 look like it uses turboprops?
