the viedio that PLAN has released also shows the launching of the J35 at the meantimeWe may be witnessing a historic moment, Fujian launching and recovering KJ-600.

Indeed, but I think Fujian and her air wing represent what the PLAN wants to be now and in the near future more than Liaoning which was a stepping stone by comparison.Yeah i don't know if J-15 flying off Liaoning back in 2012 or this day would be the greatest milestone yet for PLAN. Both are historic moments. A first is a first though.

Fujian is a domestic, clean sheet design. J-35 is a domestic clean sheet design. KJ-600 is a domestic clean sheet design. That's why it's a powerful symbol for the PLAN and PRC in general, the ship and majority of her complement embody the progress and quality of Chinese equipment in the 21st century. That they can design, build and operate their own super carrier, carrierborne stealth fighter and AEW&C aircraft.this event is more interesting since the Fujian is a new ship with domestic catapults, unlike the Liaoning which was basically a renovated Varyag.
I recall that apparently the Chinese use Direct Current EMALS for Fujian. If I remember correctly, it is very likely that China's electromagnetic catapult technology is not the same as America's electromagnetic catapult technology.
IIRC it's a medium voltage DC system with a supercapacitor/battery-based system. Should be less hairy in terms of reliability compared to the flywheel-based high voltage AC system of the EMALS.I recall that apparently the Chinese use Direct Current EMALS for Fujian.
I have no clue how it work or implication of it use though lol.
Less efficient, though.IIRC it's a medium voltage DC system with a supercapacitor/battery-based system. Should be less hairy in terms of reliability compared to the flywheel-based high voltage AC system of the EMALS.
Less efficient, though.
To be fair, Fujian is about as clean sheet as J-15T. It's very clearly a 1143 family member, and not even the most radical one (1143.7 differed more from the rest than 003 does).Fujian is a domestic, clean sheet design. Only J-15 is a Soviet/Russian carry over in that sense. And even these J-15T and J-15DT are significantly different to what their progenitor was.
It's based on the 1143 hull but just extra enlarged(No suprise here) but AFAIK the next carrier in DL is going with a completely new hull design probably due to nuclear propulsion. To be fair, Fujian is about as clean sheet as J-15T. We already know atleast partly, it's pretty similar to American carriers except larger.Very likely they have the full building documentation on Ulyanovsk and the archives on the development of 1160 (to which 003 is quite similar in structure and layout). But indeed it would be very interesting to see how 004 will look.
It's not, it's simply that both 1160 and 003 is based off heavily modified 1143 as a starting point. So it's more like both share a common parent designSo it's kinda "official" that Fujian design is (loosely at least) related to 1160 and Ulyanovsk ?
