Here is a list of UK Second World War jamming equipment that I posted on a different forum whilst referencing Norman Friedman's British Cruisers

Type 91 operated at 200-600 MHz with an output of 8-22 watts.

Type 91M had a wider frequency range of 90-600 MHz.

Type 650:
Radio Jammer to counter German Guided missiles.

Type 651:
Same purpose as Type 650.
1 kW output

Type 652 (Jostle):
Aircraft Jammer

Types 653/1 & 653/2 (known as Naval Carpet II):
Automatic swept-frequency jammer.
100 watts, 350-750 MHz.

Type 654 (American Carpet I):
Spot or barrage jammer.
5 watts, 480-700 MHz.

Type 655 (Carpet III):
No other information provided.

Type 656 (American Rug):
Pre-spot or barrage jammer.
8-20 watts, 200-550 MHz.

Type 657 (Pimpernel/Carpet I):
No other information provided.

Type 658 (British Mandrel):
10 watts, 100-152 MHz

Type 659 (American Mandrel):
Aircraft jammer.

Type 660 (British Moonshine):
No other information provided.

Type 661 (Peter):
Apparently abortive.

Type 662:
Abortive Countermeasures set developed by the Admiralty Signal Establishment.

Type 663 (American Carpet IV):
Pre-spot or barrage jammer.
5-40 watts, 350-1400 MHz.

Type 664 (Carpet IIA):
Non-tropicalised version of Type 653.

The Royal Navy also used the American TDY trainable jammer (360-800 MHz).

Thanks! added those (Do you know their design/introduction/cancellation dates? ) and added some others as well as dates for others

Unfortunately Friedman doesn't mention the in-service dates, but all of this equipment should be Second World War era.

A very interesting list.
This is probably an amalgamation of a few separate numbering systems. For example radio transmitter sets were also allocated Type numbers which largely overlap with the radar Type numbers listed here.

These are terrific lists. However, you should keep in mind that the Royal Navy designations were in a separate series from the land-based ones. I'd bet that there were RAF land-based designations which were not in the same series as Army sets. It's interesting, too, that the air-to-air sets were not in the Type number series, as far as I can see. And of course there were the postwar color-coded devices, which also deserve a full list.

It seems Type 966 was a Type 965 successor.
Type 985 was a 3D radar system to succeed Type 984.
Critical questions are
NIGS radar designation?
Trackwell?
TIA?

Type 969? I think I stumbled on a file referenced once....can't remember where, thought it was Kew online.

Type 902 gathering set for Sea Slug.
Type 902 was a separate wide-beam 'gathering' set for Sea Slug which would have worked with Type 901. It's deletion meant that Type 901 had to be fitted with the complicated MDS.1 launch computer to keep the missile within the 901 beam.
Type 905 is MRS.5 not MRS.4.
Type 903 may have been MRS.4

Type 903 was the radar for the MRS.3 director

Type 904 was for MRS.4. MRS.4 was cancelled but Type 904 was later re-issued for the GWS.22 Sea Cat director despite the GWS.22 radar and director effectively being identical to Type 903/MRS.3!

Type 905 was the experimental radar for the MRS.5 director

Type 906 is a 'missing allocation' - in his Post-War Fire Control article in Warship 2014 Peter Marland offered a theory that it may have been intended for the Coastal Forces System Mk.1 (CFS.1) which would have used either a variant of AGLT or AI Mk.9B. This was

Type 907 was allocated to Small Ship Gunnery System Mk.1 (SGS.1), it was a ranging radar. This project was cancelled in 1954 in favour of TOM.

Type 908 was the radar for TOM (Tachymetric One-Man Director) which was developed 1954-57 but abandoned in favour of the optical STD (Simple Tachymetric Director). (MRS.8 used the Type 262 in a CRBD director)

Some additional details from Peter Marland's article in Warship 2022 on search radars.

Type 984 began as 'Project Postal' in 1947, designed early 1950s and a complete development model completed in 1955, installed in HMS Victorious in 1958. Marland puts the 984 with CDS and DPT as being about 5 years ahead of the USN.

New radars:
A Type 983/983 replacement for fighter direction in 1953 - a "mini-984" with a V-beam.

Type 985 - a second generation set, experimental work 1956-60. Concepts studied included "frequency scanning, travelling wave tubes, phased arrays, multiple pulse-forming circuitry, and other techniques." Prior to the project definition phase it was replaced by Project 988 'Broomstick' in 1960 (itself cancelled in 1968).

NSR.7932 - improved Type 965, double AKE aerial as 965P, short-pulse MTI added as 965Q and 965R and became 'Project Reprise'. Accepted in 1967.

NSR.7963 - Type 966 to replace Type 965. Long-pulse MTI, 5 selectable frequencies, side-lobe suppression. Side-lobe suppression cut to save money in 1971 but whole project ultimately cancelled 1976.

NSR.7938 - Type 1015 for a new long-range radar [note that this designation was in the IFF numbering sequence for some unknown reason! It should probably have been 989]. Dual frequency UHF (430/600MHz) with back-to-back or wrap-around antennae to remove need for a masthead location. Studies included 'Broomstick', SPS-52 and three UK designs from EMI, Plessey and Marconi. Later studies included a modernised Type 965, SPS-40B, LW-08 and Selenia SPS-68. Cancelled in late 1971.
[The ASWE report I found at Kew - ASWE Laboratory Report XRA-63-5 A Study of a Proposed Radar System Employing Within-Pulse Electronic Scanning over 360° - dated August 1963 using a cylindrical array must be connected with this.]

Cancellation of NSR.7938 led to NSR.7938 (Interim) using LW-08 in D-band with the new AZV aerial from Type 1030. It was only intended for HMS Invincible only until Type 1031 became available but actually became the new set for all the class plus Type 42 and Type 82. Commander JAA McCoy on the Controller of the Navy staff at the time is quoted as saying LW-08 was only chosen to make up a foreign element in an industrial workshare agreement (doesn't say which agreement this was for) rather than any performance or cost reason.

NSR.7946 - for Type 1030, a new Target Indication (TI) radar to support Sea Dart, D-band, 80nm range, 70 degree elevation. When Type 1015 was cancelled it became a STIR. Back-to-back antennae. Studies included Marconi S617N and S680N, SPS-68, RAN-3L and LW-08. Type 1031 'Half STIR' was a single-antenna version for the Invincible-class. A prototype unstabilised aerial fitted to HMS Grenville for trials in 1973, ASWE worked on a lighter stabilised mounting but both 1030 and 1031 cancelled in 1979.
The original D-band TI emerged as Type 967 paired with E/F-band Type 968 for Sea Wolf. The 1980s replacement, Type 996, was originally intended to be a TI for Sea Dart and Sea Wolf.

Active phased array radar work began in 1977. In 1984 the first array was announced using 2.5W peak power with 1,500 modules per face. This led to the MESAR 1 and MESAR 2 demonstrators and then ARTIST. The tech finally matured into Type 1045 Sampson and Type 997 Artisan.

Also, another new entry for the list:
Type 976: dual E/F-band and I-band gun direction radars on a single pedestal for Type 14 and 17 frigates.
