Leopold Bauer worked for the Jacob Lohner & Co aircraft firm until the end of World War One. The firm was one of the first aircraft companies in Austria-Hungary, which began with the production of aircraft propellers. Starting in 1912 a propeller construction division was created, which developed under the guidance of engineer Leopold Bauer. Each engine type was allocated its own type of propeller. In the Rotunda in Vienna in 1932, the engineer Bauer also developed a 60 hp two-cylinder engine for his new aircraft, but this was never completed.
He designed several types, listed below.
Bauer Eindekker [1910]
Built in Graz and powered by a Puch engine a mid-wing monoplane single-seater. Not a confirmed Leopold Bauer design.
Bauer A1 [1923]
In 1923 Leopold Bauer decided to build four, two-seat biplanes loosely based on the Aviatik (Berg) D.I 101 series. The second to fourth aircraft carried the designation Austria B1. The primary role was as a training aircraft. It had a distinctive fin with a bat-wing type appearance. The prototype was later redesignated B1 as well.

Bauer Austria B1 [1923]
These aircraft were registered A-6 to A-9 on the Austrian register and known by the name Austria B1. The primary role was as a training aircraft. They also had a distinctive fin with a bat-wing type appearance.

Bauer Z.I [1928]
A two-seat biplane registered A-65 on the Austrian register later OE-DEZ where it was operated by Flughafen Kottingbrunn. the aircraft was used as training machine. Unlike the A1, it had equal span wings. The Z in the designation denoted Franz Zuzmann who built the fuselage and owned the aircraft initially.

Bauer Z.II [1929]
The second fuselage built by Franz Zuzmann was developed as the Z.II. A two-seat flying school biplane registered A-127 on the Austrian register later OE-DFZ. It was operated by Goerz GmbH. It had a more powerful engine fitted.

Bauer-Eger BAEG [1925]
Max Eger and Leopold Bauer collaborated on this simple high wing monoplane design, similar to the modern day FRED homebuilt. One was completed and registered A-20.

Krupka-Bauer Gleitflugel [1930]

An attempt to build an all metal high-wing strutted monoplane with a Bauer constructed 2-cylinder engine. The build was started but the aeroplane never flew due to problems with the production of the engine.
