An-40 PLO (anti-submarine defense) - a variant of the An-40 with a power plant that runs on both kerosene and hydrogen fuel. The cargo pressurized cabin of the aircraft contains gaseous hydrogen (134.5 m3). The combat load (torpedoes and depth charges) with a total weight of up to 10 tons is placed in the front part of the extended landing gear fairings.

According to calculations, with a takeoff weight of 90 tons in maximum range mode (15,500 km), the aircraft develops a cruising speed of 550 km/h, the flight duration at an altitude of 9000 m is 27 hours; in the loitering mode at an altitude of 500 m, the speed is 350 km/h and the flight duration is 22 hours with a loitering range of 7750 km. In 1964, proposals for this aircraft were implemented, but it was not built.

An-42 is a variant of An-40 with UPS. To supply compressed air, the aircraft is equipped with turbochargers based on RD36-35V engines : one in the fork, two behind the center section in the rear wing fairing.

The wing geometry and aerodynamic configuration are completely identical to the An-40 wing and differ only in the tail section and mechanization design. The tail section of the wing differs in its outline at the junction with the flap and aileron and the presence of an air blowing system (blow-out nozzle). Flaps with the UPS system are single-slotted with a fixed axis of rotation.

Does anyone know what powerplant the An-77 would have had to meet SR(A)435? The engine most often associated with the An-77/An-7X is the CFM56. Those are obviously large turboprops or propfans but 1993 would seem way too early for either the P&W PW180 or the Europrop.

If anyone can provide the data with the measurements that are illegible in the image: tupolev-giperzvukovye-03-08-640x461.JPG, corresponding to the twin fuselage different from that of an An-225, I would be very grateful. It's for the construction of a 1:36 scale radio-controlled model airplane; it's a simpler, more basic model than the twin An-225.

Hello sirs,
About 2 years ago I ran across sites which posted these An-170 3-views. The first one I borrowed from a site written in Spanish, the other in Russian (I can understand neither, only English and Japanese).
Sometime later (after the war started) I re-Googled to revisit these sites and credit them, but they didn’t show up despite multiple attempts.
Since the second one has Antonov copyright mark I would assume they are authentic…
