the Aerospatiale AS35 was twin engined high wing commuter
aircraft,it can carry 30/40 2000 hp,1700 hp or 1500 engines
as its sizes.

Dear Hesham, didn't the Aérospatiale AS 35 become the French contribution to the ATR-42 programme? Didn't it get blended with the Aeritalia AIT-230 project?

Dear Boys and Girls here is an article about the Aérospatiale AS 35 turboprop airliner "project" which later led to the Franco-Italian collaborative ATR-42 airliner......

I heard that sometime in the 60's Sud Aviation (not merged with Nord to create SNIAS / Aérospatiale) made a daring proposal to the french government and/or Armée de l'air. Basically they wanted to take a F-5 licence from Northrop and churn Tigers out of a Toulouse production line. This was obviously an atempt to break Dassault monopoly on combat aircraft and of course was quickly shot down in flames.

That's the basic story. Anyone has detail about that proposal ?

Incidentally it just dawned on me that the T-38 / F-5 family achieved the ECAT dream that failed with the Jaguar: supersonic trainer + combat aircraft into the same basic airframe.

I've found it since then, on this very forum. It had an Aerospatiale SAX- name and even got a color profile in Le Fana de l'Aviation (think it was Alexis Rocher, not sure).

Nice! Aérospatiale's AS 35T (along with the Aeritalia AIT-230) was, of course, part of the origin of the ATR 42.
