HI
D-520Z ,sorry, sure this last one was for the postwar projects section (Aviation Magazine Int.)
No problem.
According to the book Le Dewoitine 520, Authors Danel and Cuny, Docavia/Larivière editing, the history of the D-520 Z began between the Summer 1941 and january 1942, when a 1/8 windmodel was tested. In September 12, 1942, the German occupier authorized the construction of the prototype. It left the factory in February 1943, but the Germans prohibited the continuation of the program in March 1943. It was then stored, but studies on the D-520 Z were able to continue until the end of the war. It is then in the good part of the forum.

In 1948, it was to serve only as a testbed for the 12 Z engine. In April its engine was changed, but during the flying tests (only straight lines above the runway) of October 22, the engine still worked so badly that the tests were definitively abandoned.

Anybody
Hi! D.513 and D.514.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewoitine_D.513"The D.513 was a single-seat low-wing cantilever monoplane fighter that first flew on 6 January 1936. The D.513 was powered by an 860 hp (641 kW) Hispano-Suiza 12Ycrs1 inline piston engine and had a retractable tailwheel landing gear. Testing proved that the D.513 was unstable and not able to reach the expected speeds and it was rebuilt with a new fuselage and a modified tail unit. The changes did not improve the stability or the maximum speed and problems were also found in the engine cooling and landing gear, and further development was halted. The second prototype was modified with landing gear and a radiator from the D.503. It was redesignated the D.514LP and was used in high-speed parachute trials."

Does anyone know where this is? Last I heard it was in storage somewhere in the South of England

The fuselage and some other parts of the Dewoitine D.514LP was reported as being at la Ferté-Alais in the early eighties, in the custody of the Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis. That it migrated, at some time, to the South of England is news to me. Can you elaborate upon that, please?

Hi All!
I discovered this drawing about an unknown (to me) Dewoitine project.
According to the source (link https://www.aerotheque.com/galleries/production/) the airplane was a 2-engine bomber of 1937.
The designation D.600 has been used another time by Dewoitine to indicate a 2-engine high altitude bomber, so I'm a bit confused: can anyone explain better?
Thank you!

My dear Lucamax,

- D.600 & D.601 were a two projects submitted to C.3 competition of
1936,as athree seat heavy fighter and light bomber, other tenders were,
Romano R.110, Hanriot H.220, Potez P 630 and 631, Breguet 690, Loire-Nieuport LN-20, Caudron CR.670, 730 and.810, Payen Pa.321AC, and Lioré et Olivier LeO-50 (SE.100)

- D.600/II was a high altitude bomber project of 1939

All of them had been powered by two engines.

Dear Hesham,
thank you!

An 1/25 scale model of this plane was shown for a "Salon de l'aéronautique" in Paris in 1921 (12th-27th november). F-ATMA 2 was a fictionnal french identification (Aéro-Transports Méditerranée Atlantique). The project was too expensive for M. Ernoul (owner of the too little "Aéropublicité" company) and for M. Dewoitine too (the D.1 fighter needed a lot of money).
Actually, Ernoul very officially designated the project as the F.A.T.M.A. 2, as shown by this item from L'Air, Dec. 5, 1921:

F.A.T.M.A. 2, L'Air 1921-12-05.jpg

Of course, that designation also served as a fake registration on the two ads that were published in L'Air during January 1922:

L'Air 1922-01A.jpg
L'Air 1922-01B.jpg

I think the F.A.T.M.A. 2 (or Dewoitine D.4) would have been a beautiful aircraft if it had been built, and a potent competitor for Farman's Jabiru.

From Technika Lotnicza 1991,

what was Dewoitine D.520T ?,

In the autumn of 1940, work began on the "super D.520." Initially, the aircraft was designated the SNCAM M.540, later, to confuse the Germans, it was designated the D.520 T. The aircraft had many modifications intended for the D.551. In February 1942, work on the D.520T was discontinued in favor of the D.520 Z.

...what was Dewoitine D.520T ?...

The D 520T project was an evolution powered by a 1,200 hp HS 12Z-89 with an armament of 1 x 20 mm HS 404 moteur-canon + 6 x 7.5 mm MAC 34 M39 mgs in the wings. As noted, D 520T development was eclipsed by the D 520Z.

Thank you my dear Apophenia,

they meant SNCAM M.520T.

they meant SNCAM M.520T.

Yes.

But remember that 'M 520 T' was simply a cover designation for the SNCAM M 540 fighter concept. That M 520 T designation intentionally confused the actual parentage - making it seem to German occupiers that it would be a D 520 evolution when, in fact, it was a D 551 derivative.

Hi,

the year 1935 was a lucky one for the company,it had a nine projects
which never built.

Hi,

the D.29 was appeared as a modified version of the D.28,a high-wing
transport monoplane. A single-engine aircraft powered by a 120 hp
Salmson 9 AC engine, it was intended for mail transport. It remained
a project.
