First time AN/APS-154 container deployed seen publicly afair

I count 3 (only 1 on left wing and empty pylon).
It stands to reason that the empty pylon is likely capable of carrying a fourth. It's perfectly possible that it was carrying a fourth until shortly before that shot.

Unfortunately as the image is devoid of context, it's hard to tell what's going on.

That would almost be like what they tried to do with the 747 when they tried to convert that plane to a bomber when Nixon canclled the B-1A,

Early 1960s: The Advanced Manned Strategic Aircraft (AMSA) project began, but it was limited to research and development due to budgetary constraints.
  • 1969: President Nixon revived the bomber program, officially renaming it the B-1A.
  • 1974: The first B-1A prototype was rolled out and began flight testing.
  • 1977: Citing high costs and the effectiveness of emerging cruise missile technology, President Carter canceled the B-1A program.
  • 1981: President Ronald Reagan reinstated the program, leading to the development of the B-1B Lancer.

Not even this way?

Seriously, I can't find any dimensions for the P-8 bay online. Anyone know them?

Eyeballing pics with Harpoons on the wings they look a smidge too big to fit, so LRASM would likely be too.

bay lenght is ~3,91 m / 12.83 ft
the other problem it's very shallow as integral tank above is protruding down parallel to OML
Fuselage pressure hull, you mean, but same effect.

The bomb bay is in a fairing aft of the wings.

I wouldn't expect so. It seems to be quite a snug fit for lightweight torpedoes.
A Mk54 is about 9ft long, not including parachute pack. I think the LWT parachute pack is ~2ft long, so total package is 11ft.

Plus however much length is added by the HAAWC kit.

I am surprised Singapore is getting the P-8A ... is there an expected delivery date? I do not see them reported ....

Oh, god no, the USN has succumbed to USAF Block numbers! The horror!!!!

Not exactly new. Do you know how many versions of the P-3C there were?

Update I, Update II, Update II.5 [sic], Update III, Update IV (just one of these), AIP, and BMUP, at least. And that's not even including the Counter-Drug version with the F-16 radar, or the foreign versions of the P-3C

Whereas USAF Blocks means that an F-16C Block 50 has enough different equipment from a Block 30 that the USN would have called it an F-16E.

Explain the two utterly different F/A-18Ds (the basic two-seat trainer and the Marine Corps' Night Attack version).

Or the AV-8B/Night Attack/Plus.

The Navy and Marines have done the same thing for a long time.

Am I mistaken in remembering that the FA-18D was a fully combat capable ac from the beginning?

They are, but the Marine Night-Attack ones have a totally different rear seat without flight controls. The Navy ones are dual-control trainers and we're not part of operational squadrons. (The E/F are different and there are operational Navy Fs.)
