Apparently its Stingray Mod 2 that the German's are looking to carry on P-8....wonder if we'll see Norway make the move as well once integrated...

Probably WFEL Bridging as its owned by KNDS...

But in short, the only people who decide if, when and how much Germany rearms are not external actors but solely the population who ensures that politicians remain employed.
In Italy it's both the people and political establishment (but that's largely because the opposition seems to not have gotten the message that they are unpopular and what they propose is unacceptable at large) we are still to up the spending to the one required, even though a famous pro-NATO, Iraq and Afghan veteran, called Vannacci, told everyone he saw no point in further spending.
Problem as see at the same time with the rise of patriotism is also things like increased hatred against jews again for example (for multiple reasons with people from all ethnical roots).
Granted, though I can tell you in Italy it has not seen this phenomenon until Israel almost blew up Italian UN soldiers.

Other than that, the Italian sentiment of re-armament is slightly/highly unpopular (depends who you ask) because a lot of the infrastructure, public health sector and transports are either inadequate or unsafe to use or be in.

The first thing Germany needs to fix is the idea that it's okay to be proud of your country. The German students in my Study Abroad said it was really weird/wrong to be at the Japanese Emperor's new year's address and seeing people waving flags and being proud of their country.

Given what happened in their past I can appreciate the restrictions etc. That said, I think you will find many Germans are proud of their country these days

Hello folks,
for the first time, Germany's National Veterans Day on 2025-06-15 is a day to honor and remember the service and sacrifices of military veterans. It's a relatively new observance, focusing on acknowledging their contributions to peace and freedom, and promoting public awareness of veterans' affairs.
As a former conscript in the German Air Force in the early 2000s, I recently applied for a veterans badge. On June 15th, I will wear it, honoring not my service but rather the service of other 'Kameraden', who sacrificed more than me for Germany.:)

The full context would have been interesting, given that the remark in a vacuum makes little sense. I also never figured the Brits were so sensitive. Being one of perhaps a handful of women here, I've seen more offensive stuff in the fun/meme thread than this and don't consider it to be particularly troublesome.

I'm not a fan of getting rid of people with experience over non-service related things like jokes/remarks etc.

The joke:
“If rape is inevitable, then relax and enjoy.”
[...]
A number of Nato colleagues from various nations were said to have been present at the meeting.
I am thinking hard of a way to deliver that line to get away with it but I am stumped - unless it is followed immediately by something like "... but this is unacceptable nonsense". Brain fart?

I'm wondering what context prompted that line to begin with.

Gross judgement error on his own comedic talent? Some hormonal imbalance?
I give up.

Being proud of one's country doesn't exclude being cognizant of one's country's sins of the past -- or present.

I believe that the simplistic idea that “nationalism is a dangerous ideology and that countries which have committed mistakes in the past should abandon their traditions and become internationalized” is itself very dangerous.
I am not a nationalist—in fact, I believe that liberal ideals are something humanity should aspire to.
However, I think that merely forcing nations (including one’s own) to constantly reflect on past wrongdoings and pushing excessive internationalism is completely meaningless.
If you keep pushing people to reflect on war excessively, they may end up feeling fed up rather than truly reflective.

In the end, achieving peace doesn’t come from shedding tears over insincere and clichéd expressions of remorse.
Instead, we must continue discussions about what diplomatic or political failures led our country to enter war in the first place.
Well, given the current state of the world, I sometimes feel that even such discussions are ultimately meaningless.

Or did he even actually say that.
His superiors seem to believe the unnamed British officer.
Yahoo points to the Telegraph as a source.
A promotion to a different role at Nato’s Norfolk base in the United States has also been cancelled over the rape comments.
This all seems awfully tangential to 'Re-arming the Bundeswehr: Which Projects', especially in an AH thread.
Have Hello! or Express already taken this up?

The German government has denied a media report, which in my opinion seemed based on rumors, claiming that the German Air Force plans to acquire fifteen additional F-35s.
Sources (German, English):

Honestly rather unfortunate if we don't do it.

It would also, perhaps, cause our French friends to overthink their recent behavior with regards to FCAS.

We operate stealth aircraft regardless if the program succeeds, can they say the same?

There isn't an acceptable way except among the incel community and other groups of rabid misogynists.

One thing the UK has been very good at is making it crystal clear that that kind of comment is Not Acceptable, and that anyone making them should be reported. One doesn't make an effective fighting force by making half your potential recruits feel the other half are a threat to them.

From back in June:

As part of the deal with Rheinmetall, Lockheed Martin is exploring whether to transition production of the Army Tactical Missile System (Atacms) to Germany, as focus is directed in the U.S. more toward its Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) work.

“There still remains significant demand for Atacms. So yes, this would be a candidate for us to potentially take into Europe, set up a production line,” Cahill said. The product would be Europeanized and could evolve, he added, assuming the U.S. government supports the initiative. “They have not given us approval, but they have not said ‘no,'" he said.

Bloomberg are reporting that Germany is preparing to order a further 20 Typhoon as part of a huge new rearmament package which will include 8,500 AFV's....

These could be the new build EK variant that are expected....

If it happens that will bring recent German orders to 78 new build and 15 conversion to EK standard.

I wonder if Denmark and the Netherlands had a heads up that the Germans were finally about to move ahead with procurement of the SeaSpider / Anti Torpedo Torpedo when making their own decisions earlier in the year.

The Dutch navy’s anti-submarine warfare frigate will reportedly be the first to receive the new weapon in the Netherlands. On the German side, company officials have said their intended first user will be the new F127 frigate, whose planned progress through the German defense procurement motions roughly lines up.

The F127 is a new ship class for the German navy, serving as an air defense-oriented frigate. According to the spreadsheet, a procurement decision is envisioned for one month later, in June 2026, and will be worth €26 billion ($30.7 billion).

Updates to that piece at 14:20 and 16:45 - the first is a German rear admiral saying only him and his boss know the true status, and they're working to deliver F-126, while the second is reported to be a senior civil servant confirming F-126 is in trouble, but saying there's another alternative to an ASW-oriented F-127.

Yeah it seems 4 Meko A-200 are on the desk maybe in a splitt with F-126 or not. Its hard to see 8 ships in the F-126 segment and another 8 with F-127 considering the still existing manning problems but the switch from the intensiv crew requierment could help.

Okay a big post but making it short:
  1. F-124's new long range radar is still happening but challenging with possible (and likely) delays while they also kinda lost there use case as SM-3 wont happen anymore and without it no real BMD capabilitys. https://www.hartpunkt.de/modernisie...weitbereichsradar-weiterer-fortgang-ungewiss/
  2. Germany is planing atleast 2 Combat-Reconnaissance-Brigades with a size of 3-5k on people. They are compromised of a light, medium and heavy Reconnaissance-Battalion with heavy drone usages (surprise). https://www.hartpunkt.de/deutsches-...-von-panzerstarken-kampfaufklaerungsbrigaden/
  3. NVL offering new unmanned solution likely also for the Bundeswehr https://www.hartpunkt.de/nvl-bietet-seeraumueberwachung-mit-unbemannten-fahrzeugen-als-service/
  4. 150 million euros for Panzerbrigade 45 for drones in Lithuania with contracts around still this year and delivery next year. Potential systems are: FV-014, Virtus, HX-2 and OWE-V. https://www.hartpunkt.de/aufklaerun...nen-beschaffung-fuer-die-panzerbrigade-45-zu/
  5. Large Remote Missile Vessels are now also a goal for the german navy with 3 of them coming before 2035 as frigate supplement. There supposed to carry VLS missiles as most system of this class and likely come upwards of 2030. https://www.hartpunkt.de/large-remo...ne-will-unbemannte-arsenalschiffe-beschaffen/

Interesting article on the F126 problems suggesting the core issue is that Damen, the Dutch designers, and the German shipyards are having problems coordinating their use of Catia. I can't work out from the description if the problem lies with Damen, the yards, or both.

Worse, it suggests Damen is fragile financially.

Yeah those problems aren't even that new as already somewhere 23/24 came some news that suggested that delays will come trought software problems something you would assume shouldn't happen but yeah. Maybe i can recap the situation here
