Hi,

To answer a question on a French forum, I found in my files this photo of a stealth plane concept presented in 1996 during an exhibition on 50 years of ONERA. But nothing was said about the year of its building.

I have a picture of a trainer model, most likely in ONERA. The article is from Icare 1976 but is is an ad for a different French magazine called Aviation Magazine. It was the time supercritical wings were explored. It is not an alpha jet but I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps it is a Breguet/Dassault model?

The aircraft whose model is in the wind tunnel is a Canadair-made Lockheed T-33 Silver Star.

This T-33 (serial 21064) was destroyed in May 1990, with 40+ other aircraft, when a fire swept through a storage hangar.

Related to that Gullhyver project was ALBATROSS (Aile Laminaire hauBAnée à Traînée Réduite par OptimiSation multidiSciplinaire) - another truss-wing design but with rear-fuselage mounted turbofans. A more detailed study of potential arrangements for large turbofans was NOVA (NextGen ONERA Versatile Aircraft).

Another pic and video of the Onera concepts... I like the 2 Loyal Wingmen:

• Heavy fighter with LEVCONs (top), also known as "Superman" concept
• Loyal wingman "stealth bomber" (right)
• Loyal wingman fighter (left)... described as "not too sophisticated" (i.e. attritable)
• "Low cost" drone (bottom) for decoy missions, electronic warfare, and saturation of air defenses (apparently unarmed)
