Space-X DRAGON (manned/unmanned) capsule.

"We're go for launch. Let's light this candle!"

Edit: This a quote from either Bob or Doug right before launch.

The Falcon 9 first stage landing on the drone ship was brilliant, got it dead centre.

A truly YUUUGE moment in history.

Someday someone will launch a fur coated razorblade into orbit

Cats aren't well-suited for zero-g. They have instinctive "falling reaction", which kicked in automatically. I.e. cat in zero-g would be constantly stressed, thinking it is falling, and trying to rotate itself into the right position.

This is something that will have to be dealt with, because sooner or later people will be truly living in space. And people will want their pets with them. What pets work in zero-g? Dogs seem wholly wrong... even if they can adjust psychologically, they're just physically unable to deal with zero-g. Same with goats, sheep, pigs. They'd just bounce sadly. Monkeys on the other hand should be able to get around as effectively as humans, if not more so. Cats? I expect (or perhaps "hope") that they'd finally get over the "falling freakout." And if the inside of the capsule or hab is covered in something akin to burlap, kittyclaws should be able to hook in and allow them to hold on and maneuver.

Hyenas? They are actually feliforms, close to felines than to canines. Albeit they are a bit too massive...

P.S. Squirrels, especially flying ones, may be a good solution; they are more used to gliding through air & turning their fall into glide. So, they may adapt quite quickly to zero-g.

Ummm. Not really sure I'd want to share a cabin with a PO'ed hyena. For all I know, the animal most able to accept and thrive in zero G might well be a Siberian Tiger. Cool... but I ain't sitting next to one.

Indeed. Birds, too... perhaps. Doubtless there'll be fish tanks, but fish make "meh" pets.

If you want to avoid the political grandstanding stick to the Space X live feed.

Couldn’t believe how smooth the launch looked inside the Dragon. Also Dragon is internally very different looking than Soyuz. Much more space and 21st century looking

It's pretty amazing how open the Dragon 2 feels. Lots of extra space. Can't wait to see more crew on the next flight.

Four crew on the next flight I believe three men and a woman.

Someday someone will launch a fur coated razorblade into orbit. This will either be one of the crowning achievements in human history, or a blood-soaked disaster. In either event, there'd better be several live-feed camera angles.

I think the real disaster will occur when our new feline orbital overlords decide to lock any human who is not a loyal servant of the feline race out of orbit, in order to ensure that their canine foes will never be able to establish a presence in space.

They may *want* to do that, but... really, too much effort. That's what has always saved us from being wiped out; it takes time away from sleeping.

Big day for the crew today first docking of the SpaceX capsule with crew aboard at the ISS, I will definitely be watching that on NASA TV.

(that smiley color, veering on tangerine, is very convenient...       Somebody should make a variant of it with a weird, blond and bouffant hairdo...)

yeah...
I can't help but wonder if maybe, just maybe, I might've started wandering slightly away from topic. Maybe someone will show up to set me straight. Hit that "report" button. For the respect of the Orange Presidency.
