That is not a very elegant design but it allows you to scratch your nose ...

...Actually, there's a "neck ring" that was supposed to help prevent that as well as helping keep the glass from smashing if the Astronaut fell down. Much of the worry that a stumbling moonwalker couldn't get back up came from some of the early Mercury suit tests in the "Vomit Comet", where it was more an issue of suit mobility that caused the problem than man's "inability" to deal with < 1G.

One of the problems in designing spacesuits is that once you apply 1 atmosphere of pressure on the inside of the suit, it freezes and locks the joints which would work freely when 1 atmosphere of pressure applied on the inside and the outside.  I remember reading an entire book devoted to the development of the spacesuit which traced its history back through various early pressure suits and that was perhaps the biggest problem they had to overcome.

and here also in tressting picture

Could be both, to contrast with how unbelievably bulky the previous suits were (which don't come off as suits so much as one-man, wearer-powered vehicles)

It's a crappy self-made pic of a Lockheed Unmanned Combat Armed Rotorcraft (UCAR), BTW
