XM2001 Crusader 155mm SPH (Self Propelled Howitzer)

Pdf itself says it contains 15 pages. No page numbers on first two pages, consecutive page numbers from 2 (on third page of pdf) through 11, then a page without a a page number, followed by page numbers 13, 14, 15.

What information do we have on the liquid propellant gun that was originally supposed to arm the cursader? I have seen that it would allow the cursader to have multiple rounds on target capabilitie but I have also seen that capabilitiy on material that came long after the lpg was discontinued. So what did the cursader have to give up when the lpg was discontinued (in terms of less rang less ammunition ect.)

Off the top, I don’t think it gave up much if any in terms of RoF or mag capacity. Probably more of a loss in safety and barrel wear.
 
Got a chance to see the one & only XM2001 Crusader prototype at Fort Sill's Field Artillery Museum (which has an incredible collection from pre-Revolutionary War to the present). Plus I got a shot of that nice promotional poster, though it's not exactly in the most prestigious location inside..

Not technically part of Crusader, but would it be possible to use the same radar arrays for both APS and counter-battery?

Delivering artillery back to its proper place & at +80km, so-s to dump mosta dat quad crap. This while also accomplishong mdac++ threat defense is going to be an expensive beast. This beast is a center of gravity target. Therefore , it must be protected like a battleship. Oh, therefore it cost as much as a battleship. A C-5 carries 1 SPH w ammunition carrier.

have been quite aware since first learning of the Crusader program decades ago.
why the Hypervelocity Terminal Defense Fire Control radar has not been in service since the SDI program developed it, continues to escape me.

Still have been unable to find a Janes IDR from the 90's which discussed converting m-777 into 'sniper artillery' using co-mounted barrel measuring lasers, atmospheric/met & projectile tracking radars et al.
 
All those are on modern Army M777s as of at least 2015. You can see them on pictures on top of the recoil assembly.

Does increase the accuracy decently, but well you not hitting a person with the projectile at long range unless it has guidence on it. Preferably Laser, but GPS/INS works well.

Was aware of the elaborate accuracy suite on the 105mm Hawkeye being tested in theater.

Probably all Copperheads r now finally used up. A laser Excalibur is in svc or still being contemplated?
 
One argument is that if the Hawkeye suite pans out, why not reinvest in Brutus 155mm & Hawkeye 105mm as numerous, low cost Direct Supp (DS) although manned & slower rpm. These numerous DS are then complemented w a few Crusader 2 beasts as General Support (GS).
 
Meanwhile the M109a7-L52 will still lurk in the background;)
