Dear Boys and Girls, here is an article in French unveiling the then new Boeing 2707 SST design which had replaced the Boeing 733 design as that company's entrant for the SST competition. This early version of the Boeing 2707 design has an almost vertical trailing-edge on the tail fin. The article makes specific mention that Mach 3 had been replaced by Mach 2.7 and that the new design was now optimised for a higher 300 passsenger capacity.

The layout artist for this article seems to have omitted a line or two of the text, so part of it doesn't make sense......

The article comes from the 1st July 1966 issue of Aviation Magazine International......

...This pretty much matches the model kit I had circa 1969-1970. For the dislike of me I can't recall who made the kit, but it had both a swing and swept configuration, essentially two kits in one box.

Dear OM, the model kit was/is (re-released for Revell's 50th Anniversary) made by Revell in 1/200 scale and is of a slightly later version with the seven-abreast seating in a slightly wider area-ruled forward fuselage and a different tail-fin. As soon as the kit was released back in 1960s, Boeing changed the design again by adding a canard, lengthening the fuselage and altering the fixed portion of the wing......

If I'm not mistaken, Lufthansa had quite a bit of interest in this design. In fact there is a picture in another topic of a model of it in Lufthansa colours, although the caption has it down as a 'notional' design displaying Lufthansa's interest in such an aircraft. Can't find it at the moment though.

EDIT: I was wrong, the design was actually a notional one after all, not related to the NAC-60. Here's the illustration: http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,12726.msg125568.html#new
