Don't forget that Su-34 is roughly twice as cheap as the Su-35.

Hm, questionable .E.g. , production unit cost of the Su-34 in the NAPO/NAZ during 2015 was 1.5 billion rubles or about 30 mil $. In the same period production unit cost for the Su-35S in the KnAAZ was about 1.2 billion rubles. That was ten years ago. Unit production cost for one Su-35S for the period 2015-2022 was 2 billion rubles or about 25 mil $. Su-34 (M/NVO) as much heavier two-seater can not be cheaper as one Su-35S ?

Hello folks, here are two photographs, each at least ten years old, depicting the fuselage of the Su-30K2 project.
Until now, I either didn’t know about or had forgotten the Su-30K2, a land-based air-superiority interceptor derived from the Su-27KUB/Su-33UB.

Sources (English and Spanish):

Interesting, didn't know they were even building a Su-30K-2. Thought it was a paper project only. Guess it's closer to 2 decades though.

Whether it is AI or not, why would anyone with some decency and sense in them share it? C'mon guys...

100b / 48 pcs = 2.1 b/pcs

I wrote that same :

''Unit production cost for one Su-35S for the period 2015-2022 was 2 billion rubles or about 25 mil $''

It is questionable if Su-34 is 'rouglhy twice' as cheap as one Su-35S. One of the most expansive parts of the Su-34 is its ''Titanium capsule '' :

The entire Su-34 cockpit was built into a huge 17mm thick monolithic titanium-shielded capsule that weighs almost half a ton to protect the crew

Doubtful that the capsula is the primary cost driver. But the Su-34 is a larger, in a number of ways more complex and furthermore twinseated aircraft. So I agree that it's rather unlikely that a Su-34 is half the price of a Su-35S.

Problem with package prices is always that you often don't know what's included.

It is quite older than the su-35, and judging from the patriot engagement video it looks like the su-34 is unable to detect Patriot missile shots or it depends on a su-35 to keep them aware of what it is going on around them.

Info from the site ''bmpd'' about serial production so far.

''По имеющимся данным, к началу 2025 года общее количество построенных для ВКС России бомбардировщиков Су-34 составило 194 единицы, включая семь опытных и предсерийных самолетов, в том числе в 2024 году было поставлено 16 серийных самолётов. В 2025 году, предположительно, ВКС России получили суммарно 18 бомбардировщиков Су-34.''

''According to available data, by the beginning of 2025, the total number of Su-34 bombers built for the Russian Aerospace Forces was 194 units, including seven prototypes and pre-production aircraft, with 16 production aircraft delivered in 2024. In 2025, the Russian Aerospace Forces are expected to have received a total of 18 Su-34 bombers.''

So w/o those seven prototypes/pre-production aircraft ,NAPO/NAZ produced total of 205 Su-34's.We already discussed that during this year, there was maybe 20 or more produced in seven batches 'cause there were some of them with three new tact bombers .If the data about 18 during this year is right ,then there was four bathes with three and three bathes with two new aircraft ? From 2015 about 40 were lost in one way or another (pre-war and during war time).

The analyses tend to predict a problem in the replenishment of different losses.

This also helps Sukhoi losing it`s share on the international markets to french and chinese aircrafts.

China hasn't exported beyond Pakistan yet, ignoring the joint Sino-Pakistani JF-17 light fighter which was sold to Azerbaijan, Myanmar and Nigeria. The J-10 so far has only been exported to Pakistan, and the J-35 has no order yet from anywhere.

In the meantime Sukhoi managed to pull a big deal with Algeria on land which purchased Su-34ME, Su-35E and Su-57E. That's a single customer spending significant sums for an air superiority fighter, a really well decked out tactical bomber (they picked various optional systems not even the VKS Su-34Ms include as of now) and a stealth multirole fighter.

China, for whatever reason, isn't picking up pace on the export market. That may be internal or external in nature, not my cup of tea. As for French Rafale sales, they're definitely to be commemorated, but only Indonesia and Serbia were potential Russian customers that picked up the Rafale recently. Every other user went with the Rafale naturally, even India which not only has long operated Dassault types, but was also looking to supplement their Su-30MKIs and get a new aircraft for their carriers, with Mikoyans MiG-29K having stagnated over the years and lacking the domestic support the Rafale M enjoys in France, in large part for its nuclear mission too.

And going back to Algeria, the delivery of the aircraft to this customer has not really effected VKS deliveries for the Su-35 and Su-34. From what I gathered it did have an impact on Su-57 delivery, but that production line is still undergoing expansion and not yet finished with that process. So the ability to deliver both foreign and domestic orders is not diminished for two of the three types that are of interest to export customers.

Countries who want to buy western, they will ultimately always buy western. Countries who want to buy Russian will always buy Russian. And countries who want to buy Chinese, say so in order to press the Americans, the French and the Russians into making better deals.

I will just chip in with: how in the world does sneaky airbase infiltration (due to lax security, apparently?) and old airframes on the ground being struck by this infiltration in any way reflect on the different, newer aircraft the company is marketing today to potential foreign buyers?

That's like saying that if a classic Ferrari F40 gets vandalised in an unprotected garage in Catanzaro, nobody would want to check out and buy a spanking fresh Amalfi in Maranello.

Unless you close your borders and kill all messengers, you'll get that result. Western countries aren't much protected from it either, also with open airbases, lax security, open borders for explosives and drones to sneak in and ton of messengers w/ p2p encryption to choose from.

but only Indonesia and Serbia were potential Russian customers that picked up the Rafale recently.
Indonesia's only reason why they chose the Rafale over the Su-35 was because the US was going to sanctions, their primary choice was always the Su-35. So yeah, Sukhoi definitely still has a relevant chunk of export market

Indonesia ,thanks to US CAATSA and Serbia ,thanks to political decisions of the new leader and the goverment.About 10 years ago when actual President was minister of defence,Serbia wanted to by 6 + 6 MiG-29M/M2 but it never happened. Egypt? You forgot Egypt which also wanted and even ordered Su-35 but because of CAATSA had to give up.
Countries who want to buy Russian will always buy Russian

We can see now that it is not the case.

Su-35S also uses nitrogen together with kerosene for the better energy potential of its engines

To correct my mistake. Liquid nitrogen is poured into the tanks through the nitrogen station to prevent them from igniting. Nitrogenated kerosene in this way gives that specific yellow color of smoke from the nozzles, Example ,black smoke, a phenomenon that occurs due to unburned sulfur particles during MP mode of the engines , and the reason is mainly a short and small basic combustion chamber (this is mostly case for the RD-33 engines ).Greater energy potential (greater dynamic thrust) will be achieved by using a combat or special mode of operation of the engine with or without the injection of liquid nitrogen.

So a minimum of 14 Su-35S has been delivered to the VKS this year?

Yes , definitely because some of batches had three new Su-35S.

Yet another Su-35 batch delivered, i lost count, is it 7th?

Yes ,it is 7th batch in this year.

"Ростех" назвал 2025 год рекордным по выпуску боевых самолетов.
Rostec has called 2025 a record year for combat aircraft production.

Based on merely observed aircraft the absolute minimum is 14 Su-35 and 15 Su-34 this year, but likely the numbers are closer to 20 each, to this adding at least couple of Su-30SM2 that we observed. Is there the possibility of undeclared deliveries of further SM2s and Su-57s, of which at least one is visible in the video above? Any word if MiG has been building/delivering any MiG-35s?

On top of all this, there are export orders, Su-57 delivered to Algeria, Su-34 going the same way, Su-30SM2 for Belarus. I'm not even counting algerian Su-35 because they are ex-EAF ones, though it seems iranian and vietnamese orders for Su-35 are under construction. And there might be others we don't have clear info on, f.e. is Kazakhstan still continuing to receive Su-30SMs?

We can see now that it is not the case
I argue that it's only the case for Neutral/Unbiased countries who want to keep good relationships with both the West and East. US threatening sanctions, CAATSA and much more is the primary reason why I think most Russian exports aren't exactly as successful as Western ones. Not a product/marketing problem from the Russians side, they do everything they can do sell it reasonably.

Revising this to 15 Su-35 and 15 Su-34 because someone saw at least 3 Su-35 in one of the batches.

There is also example with Iran.We listen stories about delivery for years now but nothing happened so far.

Citation from 4 Nov.

''According to the corporation’s press service, this is the sixth batch of Su-35S fighters delivered to the VKS so far this year. The first batch from the 2025 production was received by the VKS on March 29. Subsequent deliveries took place on May 12 (second batch), June 25 (third batch), August 21 (fourth batch), and September 24 (fifth batch). For operational security reasons since the start of the special military operation, UAC does not disclose the exact number of aircraft in each delivery or their serial numbers. However, estimates indicate that between 15 and 18 Su-35S fighters have been delivered so far in 2025.

During 2024, KNAAZ delivered four batches of Su-35S fighters to the Russian Ministry of Defense, totaling an estimated 15 aircraft. Between 2012 and the end of 2024, the Russian Aerospace Forces received approximately 135 serial-production Su-35S fighters.''

And there might be others we don't have clear info on, f.e. is Kazakhstan still continuing to receive Su-30SMs?

They delivered all 36 ordered Su-30SM's for the Kazakh AF.

I only went for observed aircraft in footage/images, and not counted algerian Su-35 since they are ex-EAF. But insiders say Su-35s are being build for Iran and Vietnam at least, though not clear if any were delivered so far.

If this source is right ( in relationship with some leaked docs) :

''The document identifies the country clients by codes based on Russia’s national classification system: “364” is listed as Iran, “012” as Algeria, and “231” as Ethiopia.''

Iran ordered 48 Su-35's and Ethiopia 6 of them.

What about Algeria ? Any precise data about ordered Su-35's? Some sources wrote that Algeria ordered 14 Su-34ME,14 Su-35 and 12 Su-57E .

If I remember well ,Egypt ordered about 30 Su-35's for 3 billion $ in 2018. For comparison, PRC ordered 24 Su-35's for 2.5 billion $ . On the net ,we could find photos with 27 ex-EAF Su-35's in the KnAAZ.

Deliveries during 2025, with available photos ...

1. 29 March : we can see two ( hm ,maybe only one ) Su-35S ?

2. 12 May : we can see two new .

3. 25 June : we can see two ( source mentioned three) new .

4. 21 Aug : we can see hm, only one,maybe two ?

5. 24 Sept : only one ?

6. 1 Nov. we can clearly see two new.

7. 25 Dec. we can clearly see two new .

It seems that only one batch had three new :

''По имеющимся данным, третья партия, переданная 25 июня, состояла из трех самолетов.''

''According to available information, the third batch, transferred on June 25, consisted of three aircraft.''

What about videos ?

Video from the last delivery, on 0:51 we can see two new Su-35S .

Some details about the fuel system of the Su-27S and possible comparison with the same in the Su-35S.

бак № 1 – 3180 кг; ( front section of the fuselage)

бак № 2 – 4160 кг; ( central section of the fuselage)

бак № 3 – 1060 кг; ( wings)

бак № 4 – 1000 кг; ( rear section of the fuselage)

Fuel System Operation.

The aircraft fuel system is designed to supply fuel to the engines in all operating modes, as well as to cool the aircraft's system components and equipment.
The fuel system operates on RT, TS-1 fuels, or mixtures of them in any proportions. Fuel is housed in tanks #1 and #2 in the center section, tank #3, which consists of two compartments located in the wing panels, and tank #4, located in the aft fuselage between the engine compartments.

Operational capacity of fuel tanks (at γ=0.785):

The following fueling options are available for the aircraft: full, normal, and partial. During main refueling, only tanks 2 and 3 are filled. Full refueling involves filling all tanks. Tanks are refueled using a closed system (under pressure) or an open system (through filler necks).During partial refuelling, tank #2 is filled openly to its full capacity (visual inspection) or to at least 3400 (fuel gauge inspection). Fuel from the tanks is automatically drawn through the fuel supply compartment of tank #2. The fuel drawdown sequence is controlled by the STR7-2AK fuel metering system.''

So normal weight is 5220kg. Partial weight is 4160 kg/3400kg. Question is ,what kind of refuelling is used for the aeroshow's demonstration flights? Normal or partial?

Now some known details about the fuel system of the Su-35S. As we know max fuel weight is 11500 kg. Fuel tanks are new in comparison with the old ones in the Su-27S and the fuel tank No1 we have increased capacity because there is no dorsal air brake on the Su-35S. Also ,there is some additional fuel tanks in the engine nacelles and we can see them in the 'Military Acceptance' reportage from 2016. 770 litre is the fuel volume per wing.
