The other two prototypes are the SNCASE SE 212 Durandal (right)
and the Nord 1402 Gerfaut (2nd from the right)

Griffon II was one of the few advanced prototypes to survive - if barely - the severe 1958 cuts. It kept flying until 1961.

... and now I've just realized that Griffon II hit Mach 2 before the Mirage IIIA - August 5, 1958 versus October 24, 1958. How about that !

... meanwhile on January 17, 1958, Trident II had hit Mach 1.95 - close, but no cigar.

Hell of a year !
