From HiMAT to Future Fighters (79-1816)

A low cost subsonic air-to-ground strike fighter is a unique concept that may be developed and operated in the near future. This aircraft will employ a comprehensive integration of current or near-term technologies, principally in the areas of structures, avionics, weapons, and propulsion technologies. The fighter will be designed to effectively attack small mobile surface targets by delivering antiarmor weapons.

It will perform this job in high-intensity conflicts involving heavy surface-to-air,defenses, including surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), radar-directed antiaircraft guns, and advanced electronic countermeasures (ECM) / jamming capabilities.

Haven't heard about that. To me, it looks like a cross between a Jet Provost and the Tacit Blue. ???
