We have something similar in Camden, AR with highschools in about a 50 mile radius...I don't recall exactly how far. They go out to visit with the schools to determine which students are interested then bring them in for a week of tours and informational discussions. Those who join the program are hired on as apprentices and trained at Southern Arkansas Tech which is located right next to all the defense contractors in Camden. They're taught the basics of electrical and mechanical manufacturing for the jobs they'd be doing.

Which is a little different than bringing in a second motor vendor - all the bits and bobs component and subassemblies as well as the clean room type seeker assembly process and technical employees is a chowder of another kind entirely.

Boeing and the U.S. Department of Defense signed a 7-year framework agreement in April 2026 to triple production capacity for Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile seekers at its Huntsville, Alabama facility.

Boeing has invested more than $200 million since 2024 to expand PAC-3 seeker production capacity in Huntsville, Alabama, including a 35,000-square-foot facility expansion.
