Dear Boys and Girls, here is a introduction in French to the MATRA Cantinieau Bamby helicopter prototype. It isn't "secret", it isn't a "project" and it appears to use a system similiar to the McDonnell-Douglas NOTAR whereby the tail rotor is replaced by some kind of powered induction to a tail-mounted directional vane outlet to counteract the rotor torque......

The article comes from the 1st May 1963 issue of Aviation Magazine......

Can anyone confirm that the Bamby was originally started as the AC-15 project of Aerotecnica (Spain)??
I understand the name Bamby was later changed to Faon, because the Walt Disney group objected against the name Bamby.

What did they care?? It's not like it was given to a cartoon or comic book character... The name Bambi predates Disney, anyway! Some girls called Bambi could have sued Disney for making their lives miserable! (in France we've had a case of girls called Zoé asking Renault to change the name of its new electric city car, but the courts ruled them out... Phew!!!).

Dear Boys and Girls, here is an image I've found of the vane in the port side of the tail-fin of the MATRA Cantinieau Bamby helicopter......

The image comes from the 15th August 1963 issue of Aviation Magazine......

well, the disposition of the vanes seems a bit different, but other than that, it's the same thing. Did the Bamby's device use coanda effect for turning?
