Martin Baker Twin Boom in progress

Justo Miranda said:
So if anyone has any suggestions re: weaponry?

six 20 mm Hispano cannons in outer wings

Rockets, bombs, drop tanks. Perhaps, if adventuresome, mines and even perhaps a single 18in torpedo.

More invaluable references.
Again many thanks.

Next question please.
PR version of the twin boom...where would the ideal location for the camera/port be on the MB twin boom?

Also the bulge under the nose; would that be front undercarriage housing or intake arrangement of some sort?

Many thanks.
Peter

A little more progress.
Both before any Justo 'accessories' have been added.

The canopies on the PR version need a little tweaking and repositioning.

Cheers
Peter

Many thanks Son altesse
Some more progress but this one is proving a little more slowly than usual.
But the base (first) illustration is close to completing, then it'll be not too difficult to complete the others.

Then to complete this set either the Supermarine 313 or the Westland unkown jet fighter kindly provided by Justo....or both ;)

We'll see.

Cheers
Peter

I have been wondering about the close proximity of the two cockpits in this design, notably the airflow disturbance that would be generalted in the space between the cockpits as the airflow from each cockpit merged. I believe that the amount of air disturbance would cause both considerable drag and reduce the efficiency of the after propellors. Had this plane been built I would suspect that the dual cokpits would have been merged into one. There would be benefits in crew interaction as well, (as was found with the original cockpit arrangements in the Douglas C-74). Whether this would be side by side or tandem can only be speculation.

Flitzer, thankyou for your artwork, it does give an aprecaited perspective on these projects.

Hi Hoo-2b-2day
thanks for raising that.
I've wondered why the two separate cockpits myself, rather than a single two seat affair?

Plus on a photo recon version would a second crew member be necessary?

Maybe Justo can elaborate?

Cheers
Peter

Of course Sea Vixen style...

Many many thanks Justo.
That's the pink one lined up.

In the meantime, progress on the first version. Rockets and cannon added.
More to do on front view and top view.

Serial/codes anyone?

Many thanks again
Peter

how about port and starboard lights? Pretty sure that they were standard fit for most british aircraft
Well spotted Hole-in-the-ground.
I've already added the port-side light on the side view. Will add to top and front view to finish.
Unless.... ;) someone knows better of course.

Any armament suggestions for the Aussie version?

Cheers and many thanks.
Peter

Underwing fuel tanks

Great idea Justo.
A nice bit of long range patrolling.
Same mounting position as the rockets?

Many thanks.

Underwing fuel tanks

250,500,1,000lb bombs - American and/or British style. Napalm tanks, as well. Rockets.

Perhaps an underfuselage drop tank, to free up the wing racks.

Hi all,
Latest on the Aussie version.

Drop tanks.

Serial number and pilot emblem to come.

Comments as usual.

Many thanks
Peter
