What are thel slots in the turret sides for on the third Teledyne photo?

Has the optical rangefinder been retained?

According to this, it seems they finally have a customer, as yet unidentified, for the 120S (M60-2000).

I do know Taiwan has been talking about ordering the M60-2000 in the last few years with latest proposal to exchange its obsolete M48 tanks to the U.S to offset the cost for the M60-2000 for all of their M60A3 tanks. However, no deal has been passed so far because tanks are considered less important compared to other military equipment.

Israel has made significant changes and upgrades to its M60 fleet, localy named Magach (ramming rod). first two photos are Magach 6B with addon applique armour modules. next two are Magach 7A with enlarged turret, and last are Magach 7C with smaller turret.

Did the cast, boat-shaped hull offer any advantage over hulls with rectangular bulkheads?
Does anyone have photos of M-27, M-48 or M-60 after they detonated land- mines?
How thick are the hull castings on M-60?
Is there a minimum thickness that you can cast armored hulls and still make them impervious to rifle-caliber bullets?
.... main gun projectiles (e.g. 105mm or 120mm)?

An advantage in protection at the time? Maybe.

But modern composite armor does not like curves.

And while I have seen a picture of what happened to an M48 that hit a mine, it was comparing to what happened to an M551. M48? broken track and road wheel. M551? total loss, with crew fatalities. IIRC it was in the Osprey book about the M551.

some old pic of super M60(maybe M48)

High Performance M60 (aka Super M60) developed by Teledyne Continental in the mid-1980s.
It's an upgraded M60 fitted with 1200hp AVCR-1790-1B engine, Model 2866 hydropneumatic suspension, Laser Tank Fire Control System and add-on armor kit for protection against 125mm weapons.

20230622_215650.jpg 20230622_215655.jpg 20230622_215653.jpg 20230622_215652.jpg 20230622_215644.jpg

and a series of Low-Profile Turret fitted chassis, from top to bottom, M551, M41, M48, Centurion, Leopard 1 and M60.

I think I've downloaded them from old KMDB (Morozov Design Bureau) site from a long time ago . The site died since 2014 so I'll put them here just in case someone would like to discuss about them.

Very interesting. Do you know how many rounds would have been carried in the bustle of the T-84-120 turret?

I understand the concept of that sort of structure around the gun barrel as a way to reduce thermal signature and maybe other benefits, like when it has been implemented properly like on the Rheinmetall Lynx or Panther. But in this example, I think it's just some sheet metal they welded on because they think it looks cool or futuristic. Stuff like that it makes me wonder if there is even anything inside most of those added armor modules.

Colonial marine
Thanks for explanitions, becase i didnt understand the structure around the gun barrel.
the only interesting this about that iranian upgrades, is that have IR jammers, RCWS.
I think the other upgrades, didn´t have anothing of that.
It´s somthing rude the product termination in the turret, specialy the IR jammers

Still, Soleiman-402's sensors look interesting. If I'm not mistaken, there is the laser warner system within in the blue rectangles, and a day/night range finding camera within in the red rectangle. I am confused what is within the green rectangle. A daylight camera and a night vision illuminator for the driver?

soleiman 402 sensors.jpg

The green box should be exactly what you said, the night vision for driver, with one TV channel and two thermal channel. In the original M60 this exact vision block should be able to changed with night vision camera also.

Definitely driver systems.

Could be a triple sensor, daylight TV, near-IR, and thermal. Might only be a daylight TV and night vision with IR illuminator. A quality thermal imager is expensive.
