I do know Taiwan has been talking about ordering the M60-2000 in the last few years with latest proposal to exchange its obsolete M48 tanks to the U.S to offset the cost for the M60-2000 for all of their M60A3 tanks. However, no deal has been passed so far because tanks are considered less important compared to other military equipment.

Israel has made significant changes and upgrades to its M60 fleet, localy named Magach (ramming rod). first two photos are Magach 6B with addon applique armour modules. next two are Magach 7A with enlarged turret, and last are Magach 7C with smaller turret.

Does anyone have photos of M-27, M-48 or M-60 after they detonated land- mines?
How thick are the hull castings on M-60?
Is there a minimum thickness that you can cast armored hulls and still make them impervious to rifle-caliber bullets?

An advantage in protection at the time? Maybe.

But modern composite armor does not like curves.

And while I have seen a picture of what happened to an M48 that hit a mine, it was comparing to what happened to an M551. M48? broken track and road wheel. M551? total loss, with crew fatalities. IIRC it was in the Osprey book about the M551.

It's an upgraded M60 fitted with 1200hp AVCR-1790-1B engine, Model 2866 hydropneumatic suspension, Laser Tank Fire Control System and add-on armor kit for protection against 125mm weapons.
