Introduce Yourself

I do. The Liberty Wing at RAF Lakenheath.
Thanks for the answer. If I may, does that mean in anything that airframe based in Europe are specifics? Or do they have specific systems, like for the theater? This is how I understood your remark.

And b/w welcome here. As you can see already, I am sure your experience will be much appreciated.

So I'm not sure I understand the question. The "European" Eagles are F-15C and F-15E based at the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath, also known as the Liberty Wing. They belong to the United States Air Force in Europe (USAFE), which is what we call the "air component" to European Command, or EUCOM. USAREUR (US Army Europe) is the land component to EUCOM, to complete the example.

We used to have F-15s based at Soesterberg in the Netherlands and Bitburg in Germany, but these bases were closed decades ago.

Because the England-based fighters belong to an overseas command, they are not actually managed by the same command (Air Combat Command) that has all of the US-based fighters.

Oops! Didn't see the New Members forum. I am 65 years old, have never piloted, but have flown as passenger on many aircraft. My father worked for Boeing as a draftsman, and started a model-aircraft club in Vancouver BC that grew and developed many competitions. When I was young, some way or another, there was aircraft talk, with balsa wood, glue, rice paper and structures in the building. Health problems precluded getting a license, so I started studying history. I was a bit of a "hangar rat" and FBO's got to recognize me at a few airfields. Oh, did I mention going to the Abbottsford Air Show seventeen years in a row? I probably have about 70 bound books, and a check right now shows 34, 467 aircraft files in 1, 855 computer folders. Just a bit.

I am most interested in non-military craft. Any timeframe if it's Canadian, and then early aircraft; from the very beginning up to 1940. Also airships; anything ya got. Gotta go. It's a start.

Happiness comes in on wings.

Hello! I'm a 20 year old kid from Spain. I've only flown in an aircraft twice; first on a trip to Italy (in a 737), and the second time on a light aircraft of a family friend. He even let me fly it for a bit, something I'll never forget. I've always been interested in aircraft, and I love these kinds of projects that never happened that this site is built for. I've been lurking here for many years, although it had been a while since the last time I came here. Today I was looking around for info on the Vought 1600, so when I inevitably came across the thread here, I thought "might as well join!", so here I am.

Hi, I am an italian guy, i am 29 years old. I have many passions, among these are history and weapons: arrows, swords, rifles, tanks, ships, airplanes etc... This is the main reason due I joined this forum: Known more about unknown weapons scattered in the maze of history.
Sorry for my bad English

Hi, My name is Joseph DeMan. I live in Harrisburg PA. I fly remote control Aircraft and build radio control boats and submarines. I am a Navy submariner veteran and just turned the young age 71.

Hello all,
my name is Vanni, I live in Italy, 52 years old.
I am interested in history, and particularly the 20th century.
I also like the engineering history, and all that is related to aeronautics and airplanes.

Howdy y'all,
I'm Mike, an Aerospace Engineering major in Texas (Freshman). I've always been interested in the black and forgotten projects since I was in middle school and have looked all over for interesting concepts and I'm glad I could find other likeminded individuals on this forum.
I have an interest in all projects from the 1950s forward, more so the black projects that didn't see the light of day.
I hope I can contribute and learn more from here to advance my knowledge.

Thanks and Gig' Em

Hi everyone. I am Dariusz, I am 52. I live in Poland. My hobby is creating various models (trains, rockets, cars, boats, ships, RC and other electronics - robots), drawings and design. I draw in Corel 2D and Rhinoceros 3D (4 and 6). I am interested in broadly understood technique and technology.

Hello, My name es Eduardo, I am a fanatic of aviation of the WWII.
I'm from argentina; and stand be quiet an silent in a corner.
Sorry for my horrible englisch.

Greetings to all ! My real name is Richard H (for there the Rh, the "Rhesus" factor) and I live in Quebec City, Canada. I have always been nuts about aircrafts, all things that fly, the space program and more. I still remember as clear as yesterday when Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon. I won't give you my age, buy you can pull your own conclusions form there :) . I have a personal conviction that the UK and Canada have numerous secret aircrafts that never saw production stage, from pressure bu the USA (the CF-105 Arrow, the TSR2 and many others) Will be fun to learn and share !

Hi folks,
Master Corporal (retired) Rob Warner, CD, BA, a couple pairs of military jump wings,Private Pilot, etc.
My 13 years of military service included driving M113.5 Lynx, jumping out of airplanes, sailing on HMCS Iroquois, wrenching on CF-18s and drinking way too much.
After that, I worked as a full-time skydiving instructor and rigger.
Now I study history, anthropology, climatology, etc. My latest project is building models of all the airplanes flown by my great uncle. Squadron Leader Wilbur van Vliet, RCAF .... only 29 to go!
Hah!
Hah!
I love this website after getting bored with main-stream warbirds. Packed parachutes for Grand Champion Warbird at Oshkosh 1993 and (retired) President George Bush in 1997.
My second most favourite website is www.forgottenweapons.com.

Hello all!
My name is Wyatt, 17 years old (yeah, I guess I'm a bit young...).
Aviation has always been a huge part of my life. Ever since I could hold the controller, I've been a drone and model aircraft pilot.
For the past 4 years, I have been building and designing my own flying model aircraft.
I am an aspiring full-scale aircraft pilot, and I am excited about a potential career in the air!
I have always been intrigued and interested in the history of aviation and the complexities of experimental aircraft.
What draws me to this forum is the discussion and analysis of unfinished and/or unproduced aircraft. Looking into nooks and crannies of aviation that few have ventured to is something I have always and will continue to enjoy.
What I look forward to is seeing how the things I learn about aircraft in this forum might apply to my own designs and makings of flying models.
I'm excited to expand my knowledge and understanding in flight, and the many underappreciated aircraft that have come into existence.

hı for everyone.I am tony, ı am 30 year old. I am a civil engineer in greece. sorry for my not enough level english.

Hello, my name is Gary. I am an all-around aircraft geek and enjoyed the board topics that ended up in searches for years- have had a little extra time on my hands lately so I signed up. I can't say that I tend to focus on any one era or topic, I enjoy all types and time periods. I spent 21 years in USAF and now work as a civil servant for the same. Thanks for all the great posts.

Hi Gents,
I'm an ex-submariner of the French Navy, working in the naval defense industry and programs.

Hi all,
I’m Jim, I served in the Royal Air Force from 1979 until 1989 then spent the next 27 years working for BAE Systems (was British Aerospace PLC when I joined them) in the Middle East. I’m now semi-retired back in the U.K., I have a serious interest in what could be called “front line weapons technology” and have a military book collection of almost 850 books. I have a fascination for things (weapons, aircraft, vehicles, ships etc.) that either didn’t make it off of the drawing board or were tried out but never made it into service. I didn’t even know this forum existed until it was mentioned in a YouTube video about Fokker Aviations proposal for a bolt on modification kit to turn the DC-3 into a bomber, and look forward to seeing articles and discussions about stuff I never knew about.

Hi, I am Carlos, from Barcelona, ex-computer Engineer, ex-project manager for medium software projects, involving a wild bunch of software engineers, programmers, subprogram managers, integrators, after-sale guys, testers, quality control, and of course, consultants, lawyers, accountants, and quite a few bosses and owners above total, always more than 100 people, seldom more than 150. Now retired, I work as consultant, splitting my time between Barcelona, and its antipodes, Wellington. Well, with the Covid consequences, this will probably changed. I worked for the project Telecom 1 (in the land network) which was the first French Communication Satellite. I used to be private pilot (I do not fly anymore, it was too time consuming as a hobby) but I do love flying machines. I stumbled in this page looking for information on the aeroscaphe.

It's probably time for an update for me too...

Now 46, living in New Zealand, with my wife and 2 gorgeous kids (10 and 8 years old), and one book published on the Hawker P.1121.

I work full time in IT, in my spare time I do the server/site maintenance for Secret Projects Forum and also look after the WhatIfModellers Forum hosting for some friends.

Working on a new project now, hoping this will take less time to complete than the P.1121 book (8 years from conception to publishing)

Hi, I'm Jo. I've got an interest in the Royal Artillery Museum and found this forum when looking up the Green Mace 102mm Anti Aircraft Gun that is currently in the RA Collection.

Hello All - I'm Richard Teasdale of 72 yrs & retired. Came across this site while looking for information on an Hawker Siddeley project number HS1312 so far drawn a blank. Glad to be accepted to join the site.
I am interested in un made projects on Land. Sea & Air & a member of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust Coventry & Ansty Branch (UK) related to Armstrong Siddeley, Bristol Siddeley & Hawker Siddeley history.

My name is Ralph. I have a life long passion (over 50 years) for aviation, flying, building/flying rc planes...lately a few drones has entered the stable.

I have about 30 hours as a student pilot..but I realized I really didn't want to be PIC. I got hooked by uncle who was a private pilot...I realized I just like riding along and enjoying the adventure (full disclosure here).

It was this same uncle who had stored all of his model airplanes from the late 1930's- the mid '40's in a 'treasure chest' looking steamer trunk in the attic of my grandfathers garage.

It gets real nostalgic here...this dark and dusty trunk was sitting under a window, giving the only light for that part of the attic. I opened this 'treasure chest' and found his old motors, plans for control line (Trixster) and an aluminum Toppings control line airplane. Oil and gas bottles (still filled) and other bits and pieces he used to build his models.

To a 7 or 8 year kid....I was hooked from then on!

I work in local broadcast television for commercial production. Shooting, editing etc...and now working from home...thank you Covid 19.

I like all types of flying...racing, exotic, classic...pretty much anything that flies...if it's turning a propellor(s)...even better.

My favorite designer is Vincent Burnelli. Yes, yes...his name, I have noticed on the web, and in some forums, his name can be in the center of some controversy...but I'm not here for any arguing...I don't have that much time left in this here world...I just like his designs and mostly wonder: 'do they really fly as advertised'?
So yeah...I have a couple of those I'd like to build as RC planes...in my ever extending build cue.

Heck, I think about the same thing when looking at Luft '46 designs and other neat stuff.

I've been able to assist a friend who's writing a book on Burnelli with some graphics.

Here's just a few things I worked on for myself, just to see what they'd look like in 3d.

UB-14 3d 'Red Devil'

Sound reflection graphic

So yeah, I am a Burnelli guy...but not THAT Burnelli guy you should roll your eyes at...yet.

At present, my hobbies also include the restoration of a 1964 Ford F100 named Grace (truly, I am blessed with an amazing wife who indulges things like this in my life!)
In reality, I am a green mechanic who's working on a Rangoon Red F100. I always wanted to work on a classic truck...and I wanted to keep it simple! Grace is basically a street legal go cart!

Thanks for the add on.
Ralph

Hello,
My name is Cosmo I am a 22 Cyber Security student and Aviation and Bicycle nut (I race also and have made a name for myself by doing so, but I am not a Pro) from the WNY. I have always loved aircraft since I was little and play a lot of War Thunder currently as the Germans, Americans, and Italians (Thinking of starting China soon!) Can't wait to read some of the post about theses secret projects

Hi everyone, My name's Nick from the UK and pleased to have joined, there looks like theres quite the spectrum of backgrounds here. A quarter centruy in the Royal Navy following up by going into Air and Surface weapons in the defence industry. Everything i post will generally be open source, sorry to the tin foil brigade, but it's the insight rather than the facts and figures which make a subject interesting. Anyone can read a Wiki and infer a capability...
I'm currently help define and develop a new Surface Combatant for one of our Colonial Cousins... fascinating role.

Hi All,

I’m Steve, a life-long Cold War jet obsessive! I work professionally in aerodynamics, initially in aircraft but for the last decade or so I’ve defected to fast cars. I help to look after a well known but now sadly grounded V-bomber and I’m fascinated particularly by the historical development of the technology in these machines. Looking forward to learning more!

Cheers
Steve
