Introduce Yourself

Better late than never.

I’m Gaël, one monkey standing on his two back legs (when sober).
Been doing lots of computer aided doodling (it’s cleaner) for a living.
have a lot of interest for things metallic with wings. And old Mac laptops.

Hi all,

My name is Thomas Jakits, I am from Austria and I am living in Panama for the last 27 years. I have a beautiful family with 2 kids and now 2 dogs!
I have a Mechanical Engineering background, but for the last 25 years I make a living flying helicopters....
I came to SECRET ("INTERESTING") projects, via a Facebook post...
A chance encounter with Horten Wings got me started in "non-traditional/classic/conformist" aircraft designs and things "got worse" from there on!! :)

Frankly - I find "stock" boring - I am always looking to "improve/modify/simplify" something and anything.....

Nowadays I am also interested in Aquaponics (I believe the future food supply will eventually depend in one way or the other on Aquaponics or similar system ...), Alternative/Renewable Energy, anything that moves (Cars, Trucks, bikes, boats - I find the progress in sailing technology in the last few years absolutely fantastic!), I like the idea to build a SKOOLIE! (Google it up! Warning - this stuff is addictive!)

I am following general politics and of course have my own opinions.....

Okay - now getting started in sifting through all the secrets on this forum!! :)

Cheers,
Thomas

I should introduce myself, long time lurker, only been posting regularly in the last month or so. I'm a 30yo aerospace engineer from Arizona, now working for Lockheed in California. Currently working on missile defense related project after a stint as a ballistic missile analyst. Love everything aviation, space, sea, and history related, especially when it relates to unbuilt projects and alternate history. Hoping to get involved in exotic/nuclear space propulsion once we get serious again about space exploration. Once upon a time I used to fly gliders (Schweitzer 2-33s) hoping to get back into flying again.

Hello,

I'm a 15 year old American with a Ukranian and German heritage. I love and document Soviet/Russian aviation, military, and technology tremendously and have actually read from outside the forum for roughly 3 years before joining. I enjoy flight simulators like War Thunder and Simple Planes.

I am religious, though I will keep that to myself as part of the forum rules.

Hi,

my name is Mario Santi. I'm 70 y.o. and live in Rome, Italy. I am a retired air force officer, and I'm interested in aircraft technology, especially of the period 1930-1970.

Hello, Mike Kelly here. I"m a retired USAF aero/astro test engineer and program manager. Been an aviation buff since watching F-100s and OV-1s fly the pattern over the local Army base in the early 1970s. I'm a stick-and-tissue free-flight scale modeler active with the Flying Aces Club, and am always looking for ideas and inspiration for the next build. Pictured is a Megow Grumman Skyrocket, done up as a "what-if" inline-engined version as drawn in the August 1940 Model Airplane News. 0227 Finished Skyrocket with MAN Drawing Small.JPG

Hello All,

I'm in my mid forties living in the United States. I'm a degreed Engineer and I've worked in aerospace development my entire adult life. I'm particularly interested in aircraft propellers, and propeller aircraft development. I've got a decent archive of propeller information gleaned from personal connections, years of watching E-bay, and visiting various archives.

Hello,

Mechanical engineer from the US, researching the 733-290 project my dad worked on in the 1960's.

Hi everyone! My name is Michael, I live in Vancouver CA, and I’m a multiple stroke survivor. I’m here mostly to learn and use Neuroplasticity to rebuild my brain. I won’t post in forums much unless I have a specific question. Thanks in advance to all of you for your posts.

Hi everybody!

My name is José Paulo, I'm located in Portugal and my interests are centered around the WW2 period.
I got more involved on knowing about the secret projects since the late 90's.

Being an old school modeller who will soon restart the bench with the unavoidable 1/72 scale, my aim is to share knowledge about the projects, previewed options and details, etc.
Warm greetings from the Algarve,

José Paulo

Hello,
I am a Hungarian at the end of my forties, with a master degree on aerospace engineering at hand. However I spent only a few months in the industry, and now I have a totally different job for a living for two decades.

Hello to all,
I am a 63yo Belgian living in Brussels. Unsuccessful pupil pilot with the then Belgian Air Force, I have kept an interest in aviation since my childhood. A dozen years ago, I discovered (and got addicted!) a pleasant PS2 game. Pleasant but nevertheless frustrating to a certain degree. A friend of mine suggesting we might design our own game, I took in charge the historical research part rather the IT part which is not my trade at all. The game being about aircraft, these and their armament are the subject of my research. This involves justification for fantasy iterations of both, including quick illustrations. Recently re-discovering an image I created among your discussions, and it being a fantasy, I thought appropriate to lift any doubt about its nature. Mind you, the image itself contains a note intended to avoid any wondering but perhaps that added note wasn't conspicuous enough - blame me ! (Re : https:www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/french-matra-jk200-weapon-drop-tank-system.25988/ )

I won't be more precise about our own website - very much against your friendly rules ! Anyone wishing to get in touch is welcome and thanks for sharing materials as SecretProjects is among my sources for my work. Best regards, pierre.deveaux@laposte.net

Greetings from the desert outside of Las Vegas Nevada. I am pushing 50 and hold a lifelong fascination with aerospace tech. My grandfather and cousin worked in the industry for many years. They both added to my enthusiasm for this field and contributed some cool stuff to my ever growing collection. I enjoy looking at the images and will be scrolling through the archives here checking it all out. Thank you all for your contributions.

Saludos

Pablo

Hi everyone,
I`m an engineer writing a book about WW2 fighter aircraft piston engine development - in fact to be published by
a fellow member on the forum Dan Sharp early next year.

I`m interested in engine applications, which of course applies to lots of drawing-board only aircraft which never flew.

If you want to know something about WW2 piston aero engine development there is a pretty good
chance I can help, sadly as I`m not a pilot I can`t consider myself any sort of expert on flight
or flight characteristics, so I am always interested in learning more on that aspect.

Looking forward to being able to contribute, and will try to keep shameless self publicity of my book
to sensible levels.

I sometimes make YouTube vids on aero engine theory, and recently re-drew the Mukulin AM35/38 supercharger swirl
throttle from wartime drawings, and 3D printed it (the ring-gear which actually moves is hidden in this shot)

Hello Mr Douglas,
-
High performance piston engines are a fascinating subject indeed. Slowly working (after a 2-year interruption, work should resume early next year) on background data to support a "1963-1967 WWIII air combat game" I have been more than interested by the latest iterations of these engines, either those having reached operational life or the various attempts to go one step further. Some of these attempts were probably ill fated from the beginning (eg: Wright R-2160 Tornado) while others just came in too late as the gas turbines supplanted them (eg: P&W R4360 VDT). Then there were the engines developped in the "wrong" countries (re: various late WWII German and Japanese developments) - these were understandably swallowed by an unforgiving history.
-
I would personally (and selfishly!) be interested in the feasible development of V12 engines (Packard V1650.9, Allison V1710.117, Rolls.Royce Grifon.85, Hispano Suiza 12Z, Daimler's DB605DC, DB603S1, Klimov VK107A, Mikulin AM42) both in terms of output at sea level or at altitude, and in terms of specific fuel consumption. This interest should not overshadow similar developments studied to further improve big radials, like the above mentioned R4360, or R3350 to only mention of couple of American iconic ones, nor what either Lycoming (R7755) BMW (801F, 801Q, 803) , Nakajima (Ha219RU, Ha-505), Shvetsov (Ash-73TK turbo compound), Bristol (Centaurus 373), or Junkers (Jumo 224) could have achieved with their respective endevour. I confess I can't forget the Canadians choosing the R3350 against gas turbines on the ground of fuel efficiency for their Argus ASW patrol craft in the late fifties.
-
One might only guess what a CAC CA-15 Kangaroo could have been capable of if powered by something even more pushy than the already respectful Griffon.61, and the same reflexion applies to either the Fiat G55/56, the Yakovlev Yak-9, the Norh American F-51 Mustang, the Republic F-47 Thunderbolt, the Vought F2G-2/AU1 Corsair or the Supermarine Seafang, to only mention a few proven types (or evolution thereof) and extends to interesting but ill-fated designs like the Vought F5U Flapjack, the Mansyu Ki98 or the similarly looking SCNASO SO.8000 Narval. This subjective selection is intentionally restrictive and excludes multi-engined aircraft, whichever their intended purpose (heavy fighter, light or heavy bombers, cargo transports, or airliners).
-
At this stage of my preliminary work I only applied such fictional powerplants on a couple of fantasy designs - and I will save you the whys and hows - but a couple more could be added to please amateurs of such fantasies. Then the question is : how far one may go while keeping these fantasies within the realm of reason ? Imagining a R4370VDT or a TK11 turbocharged DB603S was easy and not too far fetched. Production Bristol Centaurus.373 or Napier Sabre.V/E122 would be quick picks while post-war production of Ha-505s (licensed) or Lycoming R7755 an unnecessary stretch of imagination. But how far one might venture about the V12s, the R-2000-7M2, and the R3350 (4000 hp?) without being ridiculed ?
-
You asked who would be interested by what in the matter of piston engines - well, here you got it ! Best regards,
-

Hello!

I'm a 68-year old retired Air Force officer who majored in military history at the Air Force Academy. Currently co-own a media production company that specializes in documentaries and working with museums and other non-profit organizations.

Moi...... Artist, entrepreneur, and just turned 70. Been flying since I was 16. Flew out of CNO for many years in the Warbird Community. Started collecting factory models that my Pops brought home and loved all of the Go Bump in the Night types. Specialize in proposals and what if's, and restore and make what I can't find.

I am the owner and first moderator of this site. My name is Paul Martell-Mead, I am 32, and live in London, England. I work in IT, but I am very interested in military aviation technology and have built up a large database of knowledge on this subject. I post as "overscan" or "aerospacetech" on various aviation forums.

I recently got married in New Zealand and plan to move there eventually with my New Zealand wife, Vanessa.
Hello Paul, my name is Rick Odermatt, I am ex-RCAF. I was an Aircraft Weapons Systems Tech from 1975 to 1996. I had top secret clearance due mostly to be a specialist of the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile. My clearance expired in 2006 so what I knew is so old that it is no longer "sensitive" and I can since 2006 travel to what we called "Scheduled countries", China, Russia, and the like. I am currently a Computer Systems Tech with the Calgary Catholic School District since 1997, wow, I'm old!!;)

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and married a German girl back in 1985. She still isn't used to Canadian winters, well, neither am I. We are avid "Winter Texans" and like to travel on long trip with our 2004 Chevrolet Suburban Z71.

Go to get ready for work, it's 0634 hrs and I have a ton of IT stuff to do. I look after 8 schools both in Calgary and Cochrane.

Ciao, for now,
Rick

Hello All, I am Gary from Adelaide, South Australia. 67 years young and a "gentleman of leisure", I enjoy playing Wings of Glory WWI and WWII, (and the spin offs, Battle Star Galactica and Tripods and Triplanes) with my friends. I also like flight sims and currently fly in Aerofly FS2. I have a keen interest in aviation despite being a swabbie in the dim distant. I look forward to exploring this website and forums in the future.

Hello everyone

My name is Paulo. Since I was a teenager I'm fond of military projects, especially naval projects. I plan to join the Brazilian Navy in the future.
The nickname I chose as a user name "Joaquim Marques Lisboa" is a tribute to Admiral Tamandaré, Brazilian military nobleman of the nineteenth century.

Hello, iam Olaf from Munich. Iam 52 years old and interesting in a lot things of aviation. Some interests are german aviation in the 1920ies (Udet Flugzeugbau and M23), but Breguet Atlantic or Mil "Hip" and many others, too.

All the best for all members

Hi I am jeff jaworski my website information is what there is to know about my interests. I have a Russian weapon fetish and have interests in U.S. weapons from time to time like the A-10 as my favorite aircraft for example. I will try not to butt heads with other users only if it stays subject related to the thread. For some reason I love neutral boards filled with different interests and opinions and decided to start an account here because key forum pub is gone :(

I am Matthew from NC, USA. I am 44 and an Engineer by schooling, and a maker at heart. I have recently begun enjoying the hobby of remote control(R/C) Model Aviation, through the wondrous means made popular through Flite Test, a company who's mission is to bring people and families together through approachable model aviation. Their method uses Inexpensive material components and reusable core components (radio motor battery). It is a hobby I have always wanted to be part of but only through them have I broken through to trying it.

With this interest follows naturally an interest in the history of the planes I build and fly. Along with the general interest are community challenges to find less modeled aircraft and try our hand. hence my interests here.

One such challenge was the WWII Design Build Challenge, This was to find a WWII design that never saw combat action. Research it, design build and attempt to fly your model with plans for others to try should they wish. This site and X-aircraft books are amazing resources for this type of topic.

The next year was fantasy craft. That is the other half of whats here. since I have found this site I've perused it for build ideas. I hope one day to contribute more, but for now, I will most likely be a sideline researcher for actionable craft.

The Kalinin K-12 and the Russian LPL Ushakov Flying Submarine were subjects I attempted to tackle. (decent likeness, but without successful flight yet).

Thank you for indulging us looky-loo's.

Hello, I am in the Midwest of the USA, former Cav Scout for the US Army (Bradley's and Humvees) currently working for a defense contractor and love all things related to black projects from WW2 to current times. Looking forward to being a part of the community!
