This logo seems to be GHP, perhaps for Groupe (or Groupement) Helicopteres Protection.
I will try to obtain more information.

Perhaps Gendarmerie Héli-Portée ? Just a thought.

Well, what I was reading as a "GHP" is simply a "GH2" for "Groupement d'Hélicoptères n°2" (Helicopter Group n°2).

The GH-2 was created on May the 25th, 1955, at Setif Ain Arnat in Algeria. The logo was used to differentiate helicopters of this unit of the ALAT (Aviation Legere de l'Armée de Terre / French Army Light Aviation), from the ones of the Aeronavale (French Navy Air Arm), using the same type of helicopters at the same place.
This logo was applied on GH-2's Sikorsky H-19, Piasecki-Vertol H-21 and, it seems at least on one, SNCASE Alouette II helicopters.

Many thanks indeed for this identification!
Shows to me again the dangers of interpreting blurry photos. I was pretty sure, that the last
character was a question mark, so I was thinking about a question mark and that made me
thinking about a kind of squadron motto. The result could have been embarrassing, thanks
again for saving me from that ! ;)
