:( :( :(

This evening I will read some excerpts in honour of Captain Eric Melrose "Winkle" Brown!

Like many of my generation and presumably like many other forum members, his book inspired me reading and finding out more about aircraft prototypes and aircraft projects. :)

May he rest in peace and his soul fly supersonic towards heaven.

Rest In Peace!

First knew about him from old "Air International" series of articles about testing the aircraft...

I dreaded the day, but it was going to happen given his advanced age...
One of the people i admired the most in the aerospace world. His books on test flying aircraft were incredibly entertaining (the Luftwaffe one being possibly the best), and of course his biography (wing on my sleeves) was very good too.

Hals und beinbruch, as he once told Hermann Goering at the end of WWII

here is the impressive list of aircraft Brown has flow.

“In an era of outstanding test pilots,” said the one-time Hawker chief test pilot Bill Humble, “‘Winkle’ was simply the best.”

Thanks for that, you know there is one thing I have not found out about that man, how many aircraft did he shoot down in total?
