Made an RCS estimate for YJ-12/CM-302 missile. Think might be interesting as the missile along with Brahmos are actually considered by our navy for shore defense program. Right now Brahmos have the advantage. Anyway Unlike Oniks or Brahmos which basically a flying stovepipe, YJ-12 have more complex geometry with 4 inlets. So modeling it basically take more effort
YJ-12/CM-302 Model
Oniks/Brahmos Model
Both missile have inlet modeled, the Oniks is simpler, YJ-12 have this :
Unfortunately i wasnt able to found any reference image on the Inlet duct layout, flameholder and fuel injector for YJ-12 model so this is kinda speculative and based on layout from E.Fleeman's "Tactical Missile Design". For the estimates HFSS are used, no radar absorber treatment for both missile. The Seeker is assumed to be hidden in bandpass radome, which designed to reflect all the bands not within the operating range of the missile, essentially simplifying the simulation as the radome now can be treated also as PEC. The Estimate runs from VHF band of 100 MHz down to X-band of 12000 MHz. Polarization is Horizontal. As for how to derive the numbers is based on "Equivalent Spherical RCS" which median multiplied with 2 from data taken in frontal angle of 120 x 45 degrees.
YJ-12 Model (example interaction vs VHF band)
Oniks/Brahmos Model (example interaction vs VHF band)
Above is some interaction example for VHF, there are others but i need to compile them into full video first.
Result wise, kinda show both missile models arent that much different signature wise.
There are some advantage for YJ-12 model but is 7% really significant ? This roughly translates to 20 km of detection range advantage for YJ-12 model (e.g enemy radar can detect Oniks in 100 km, YJ-12 at 80 km). The tabulated form for those interested are here :

Putting YJ-20s on Type 052D destroyers, not just the giant Type 055, distributes the capability across many more hulls and potentially a much larger area.
