From Canadian Aircraft Since 1909,

RCAF announced for a Navigation Trainer contest in 1944/45,and the tenders were;

1- Fairchild Canada F-8
2- Noorduyn design
3- Victory,may be Model-10 ?
4- Fleet Aircraft,may be Model-70 ?
5- Canadian Car & Foundry design

Instead, the RCAF bought 164 B-25 Mitchel Bombers. They served in various training roles until the last retired during the spring of1962. While the RCAF never formally operated B-25 Mitchells during WW2, several Canadian airmen flew B-25s while attached to six RAF squadrons in the Second Tactical Air Group, which mainly supported the Canadian Army's push to capture Channel ports (Dieppe, Dunkerque, etc.) after D-day.
We suspect that these WW2-surplus airframes were purchased for pennies-on-the-dollar compared with new production.
